By any chance, do you all use linux proxies with lvm? I ran a test on request of support without lvm and the VM's we have issues with processed successfully. No I’m using a windows proxy

The problem is not VMs with the same UUID, but disks with the same UUID… Hi @JMeixner,yes, didn't come out right.I’ve backup with the same proxy in [HotAdd] mode two VMs with disks with the same UUID export with command on the top of the topics:Get-VM | Get-HardDisk | Select @{N='VM';E={$_.Parent.Name}}, @{N='Uuid';E={$_.ExtensionData.Backing.Uuid}} | Group-Object -Property Uuid | ?{ $_.Count -gt 1 } Regards

Hi to all,I’m testing in my lab:2 VMs with the same UUID Veeam DP v12 VMware 7.0U3The proxy server process all disks (simultaneously) in Virtual appliance mode without problems.

Another question: Is there an official statement from Veeam about this problem/feature (😎)? Fabian ( @Mildur ) has sent an interesting VMware KB article to me: https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/1021189 This is a possible explanation of the problem. Disks with the same UUID must not be mounted to the same VM. The Veeam backup proxys are mounting a lot of disks and there is a great chance that disks with the same UUID are among these. I will check on my lab environment, where I’ve found 4 VMs with the same UUID.

Do you have the right permissions for the service account? https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backup/vsphere/hardened_repository_deploy.html?ver=110#step1 Hi Stabz, I’ve read something about the retention policy on the log error, I also thought of something due to retention of hardened repository that cannot delete file because locked, but it worked fine still last friday and why the repository become Unavailable?

Immutable Backup Copy Job Issue

Hello, first of all, you are copying to or from immutable storage? I would interpret the error message that the repo cannot be reached or that the filesystem is damaged. Are you able to read from this repo? Hi I’m copying from and to hardened repo. I need to check the status of filesystem repo, the other repo (dfferent LUNs) seems to work fine; if I execute rescan, of these others, the output it’s ok.

Backup Repository Concurrent Tasks

The best practices guide for the concurrent tasks. Th eBP guide wills its I/3rd of the total amount of proxy tasks (cores) send data to the repo. Remember the gateway needs to sized like a repository sever so make sure you follow the RAM and CPU recommendations. On more thing you will need to consider when sizing the repo with the required tasks. Will you be doing any SOBR offloads to object storage, or backup copy jobs? If so then make sure you have some extra task slots (CPU) available in your gateway server so the offload can keep running when the backup runs. Th backup job has priority over offload jobs so it will take tasks assign to offload to complete a backup job if there is not enough proxy tasks assign to the gateway. @fspadaro two things, in the first post you write: Retention: 7 days Repository: Hardened for 7 days but I remember that using the same retention for backups and immutable backups could generate issues… And, is that a real backup copy job? It seems just another backup job with that logs… but maybe I’m wrong. This is a lab to understand backup copy job from an hardened repo and I cannot wait a lot of days of immutable; say that I think there isn’t a know issue to use same retention and same hardened retention, have you same documentation about this?Where does your perplexity come that is not a BCJ?

I would highly recommend to read this blog post by Hannes Kasparick: https://www.veeam.com/blog/backup-copy-job-it-can-do-more-than-just-a-copy.html With v11 retention policy has changed in backup copy jobs. It is now like the retention in primary job. What are your retention settings (also GFS) in copy job? In all jobs the retention are the same: Retention 7 days GFS 12M, 5Y @vNote42 I have read better the blog post and it clearly describes that the backup copy job works as “forever incremental”.It is not clear to me only why it did not delete the backup points from June 14 to June 29

Are you ahead of time? You have backups until July 3rd 2022. I am at June 15th 2022 only…. Perhaps this is the problem. All backups before June 15th seem to be deleted... Hi this is a lab to understand the behavior of this simulation. I have changed the data/time manually on all system.
