Hey guys

I’m back to the community. Just courious how many of you are Kubestronauts? Or never heard of it?

Kubestronaut program introduced at KubeCon Europe in Paris back in March 2024 by CTO Chris A from CNCF. So far, in 3+ months, there’re 300 kubestronauts from 64 countries. My photo has been featured by Linux Foundation and CNCF to promote this program.

I believe my Kasten automation is still relevant. Has anyone tried it lately? http://k10.k8sug.com

Here’s the automation code. https://github.com/yongkanghe/eks-k10

Hi @Yongkang ! Welcome back and congratulations on the K10 automation codes! They are very useful and practical, I forked them. 🚀

I'm very interested in Kubestronaut program and am on my way through the Linux Foundation trainings and certifications! I just followed you on Linkedin, thank you so much for sharing! 👏🏻

How to be a kubestronaut? https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:7208742786852900864

Conrgrats @Yongkang !

I personally won’t be doing the Kubestronaut program. If it were given for the CKS, CKA CKAD then might consider but the two entry level examinations being added in there makes it just too expensive.

The fact that the Linux Foundation reduced the validity of the CKA and CKAD to 2 years from 3 was also a hit. Luckily I renewed my CKA just before they made that change. I have not renewed my CKS and will have to think about CKAD in the fall now since again the costs are just getting too high.

I did the KCNA beta as tester when it came out and it was not a bad exam, multiple choice, but would have been pricey if I had not gotten it for free.

From a work perspective, if you have CKA, CKAD and CKS then I can’t see how any company would pay for the KCNA and the other KCNS? (the security one). The best discounts that I have seen are 50% but still expensive since in USD.

Either way great having you back here :)

cheers

Geoff

Thanks @Geoff Burke! Totally agree with you, it’s way too expensive. Reducing the validity from 3 to 2, that’s equivalent to 33% price increase. Haha 😄

That’s why I’m on mission to bring the affordable learning & certifications to the wide community because I personally spent too much money on the exams.

The current deals I have is here up to 48.5% off. It’s a lot better than when I was doing the exams. https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:7215359681609760768
