Thanks for the link showing the System Requirements. The requirements are met. While looking at this, I also saw one issue, I don’t see the plugin in the SSMS toolbar. But no big deal, just need to make sure if the issue exists or by design. Thanks.
There is an MSI file you run for the plugin to install it on the SQL Server so it shows in the toolbar of SSMS. You will need to do that and it should then show.
The plugin has been installed and tested as working for both full/log backups and restores using SSMS. For some reason, it does not show on the toolbar. Anyway, this is a minor issue.
The bigger issue is can we use VBR console or the Self-service portal with the SQL Veeam plugin? Thanks.

I am not sure if the plugin directly interacts with the Veeam VBR Console or not as I believe it was for dong backups in the SSMS console directly. You can use VBR and the Self-Service console for SQL interactions.
The screenshot from SSMS shows the tlog backup the was setup using Veeam’s plugin.
The screenshots of the VBR and Self-service portal do not show accessibility to these log backups.
So there is a disconnect of some sort from VBR and the plugin. Unsure as I don’t really use the plugin so I might suggest opening a support case if you need to get access back to those logs.

Hi @spider32 - the toolbar icon is not supported on your version of SMSS, according to the Sys Req’s:
If you want more direct confirmation on both your questions, aside from the info I found in the User Guides, you can probably poke at the Veeam PMs on the Forums.
Hope that helps.
Thanks for the input. Yes as of now, everything (DB backup and restores) is all done within the SSMS. Just really curious if this was part of the design. I will open a ticket. Appreciate much.
Yeah...I think it is by design so as to keep the backup process with the DB, while utilizing Repository (backup storage) flexibility of VBR (i.e. immutability, etc).
Keep us posted what you find out.
Veeam replied back that this is by design.
“The Veeam SQL Plugin is a Standalone product at the moment and has very limited functionality with Veeam Backup and Replication.
This is by design:
Only way to Browse the Backup and view the Restore points of the Backup is directly with the Veeam SQL Plugin again.”
Thanks again for your inputs.
Glad to hear they got back to you with an answer. Nice to see what it is as I did not know this with the plugin myself.
Yep, as I thought. Thanks for confirming @spider32
