Question

Veeam Backup in Cloud AWS

In a scenario where we have Linux and Windows servers, with Oracle and Microsoft SQL databases, running in the AWS Cloud.

The best way would be, server image backup + Database backup (Oracle and SQL) via integration?

Would anyone have any different suggestions?

Thank you for your support.

What about using the Agent for backups instead of integration?  That might work too.

We are thinking about the worst case scenario and what would be quickest to restore this environment.

1 – Restore a backup image and return the database data to the last point time.

2 - We made an attempt via the agent and the performance in relation to S3 was very bad, in addition to the Linux server not running due to a UEFI problem.

We are trying to find the best scenario considering server and application (Oracle and SQL)

In this case, you must use Veeam Agent for Windows and Linux because Veeam Backup for AWS is not capable to back transaction logs for Oracle/MSSQL yet.

I recommend using cloud Agents on VBR: https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backup/agents/agents_backup_cloud_machines.html?ver=120

We thought of two solutions:

1 - Image Backup for servers (Windows and Linux).

2 - And a second solution just for application using ORACLE rman, we saw that veeam would allow us to do this.

Those options should work well.
