Hey guys,

A customer of mine has asked whether I could create recovery media for failover cluster but in this link

https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backup/agents/image_create_before.html?ver=110 tells that I cannot create a recovery media and I should enable creation of a Veeam Recovery Media for such clusters with a registry value. Has anyone faced this situation and enabled recovery media with registry value. Also I referred this link https://forums.veeam.com/servers-workstations-f49/unable-to-create-recovery-media-for-server-t73845.html

Hi @Anandu, it’s only if the cluster is using Cluster Shared Volumes (CSV), is that your scenario? If not, you can safely ignore the message.

I think it is because I don’t have the option to create a recovery media

In my understanding you need for a cluster without Cluster Shared Volumes a “normal” recovery media for each cluster node.

For a cluster with Cluster Shared Volumes you need to contact Veeam support to get the necessary registry value...

Joe is correct on this one. 👍

And if the option for the creation of the recovery media is greyed out… (Sorry, I cannot read this exactly from your original post) Your cluster nodes are running with Windows? The recovery media is supported for Windows server only.

And one more thing for a cluster without CSV the recovery media options will be specified. Has anyone faced a situation where recovery media is not specified even though it has no CSV?

Hey guys, in this link it says veeam cannot backup failover cluster with CSV and CSV will be excluded if you are backing up that cluster.

Is there recommended way to backup those volumes? Can volume or file level backup solve this?
