TapeDrive alert: The tape drive is due for routine cleaning: Wait for the current operation to finish. Then use a cleaning cartridge. Check the tape drive user manual for device specific cleaning instructions.

We have the cleaning tape in the library, and it is set to Perform drive cleaning automatically. Not sure why we would get the alert. Would ejecting and adding back to the drive resolve this issue?

Veeam will alert you when a tape drive needs cleaning as it has control of it.  There is an option to turn on cleaning in the Veeam configuration for the tape server I believe so that it can send the request to the unit.  Otherwise pause jobs and eject the current tape then run the cleaning from the tape interface.

Does the message reappear?

Otherwise I would think that the library has triggered the cleaning after the current process has ended.

Does the library log say something about a recent cleaning process?

@JMeixner Checked the logs but could not find any error. So I guess after error message the cleaning operation started.

Ok, this is no error. It's normal library operation.

So, it will be an informational entry in the logs.
