One of our customers is currently using VBR 12.1. Customer is replication some VMs form Primary site to Secondary site. Customer is planning to run a script for installing some package during the replication job is running. When the VMs failback to secondary to primary customer wants run again script for uninstall the package.

Is it possible to run this script during failback? If not possible what can we do in this case?

Hi @Shaokat -

No...running a script is not possible when failing back. I think there “may” be a way to do this if you were to use Veeam Recovery Orchestrator, but I am not too awful familiar with using that product:

The only way I can think of to do what your customer wants is to manually run the script after failback.

@Shaokat - there isn’t anything I’m aware of which says running a script isn’t possible when performing failback. But, the Veeam B&R User Guide for performing a Failback doesn’t specify there are any options when running the Failback wizard to add a script:

I guess the only other way to get confirmation of this is to ping Veeam Tech Support 🤷🏻‍♂️

Hi @Shaokat -

I’m just following up on your post here. Are you still needing help? Though Veeam documentation doesn’t state you cannot run a script when performing a Failback operation, at the very least, aside from contacting Veeam Support, you can show the customer the Failback wizard (e.g. do a test Failover → Failback operation) and show them the wizard has no option/button/tab to configure to run scripts with.
