Hi all,

I am trying to get support with Veeam but they are giving me the run around (we have a valid license but apparently its not assigned correctly and our account manager is away until the 18th) so I thought id ask here. But I am a bit disappointed Veeam has always been great with support and regardless always tried to help 😞 Veeam ticket is Case # 07501120

I am getting the following error

Error: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond

This Repo has been working for over a month, no blip or issues. However, just today it started having an issue.

The only thing that has changed is I am using a proxy now rather than the backup server direct.

I rebooted the immutable repo and Veeam was happy again. However, logged on this afternoon and it says disconnected again.

Now I have reinstalled the components onto it again, hopefully it stays - has anyone had this issue of Immutable repos dropping off?

This is Ubuntu 22.04 - and nothing else on it but Veeam.

Does the repo potentially only work when its scheduled? like does it go into a sleep mode? or should it be available all the time?

Thank you kindly in advance

hi @itrabbit?

There is no such thin as a sleep mode in VBR. Reading the error you got seems to be a connectivity issue between the proxy and the repo. Any chanche some firewall in between ?

Hi @itrabbit and welcome to the Community.

Some points from my side: The Repository will under normal circumstances, work the whole time - there is no Sleep mode or anything like that.

Also i would go for reaching out support, what you did already - you can also provide them necessary logs, which will increase their insight in your problem: Exporting Logs - User Guide for VMware vSphere

As you mentioned, it was working the whole time, until you using a proxy - what if you switch back to the original state? Even it’s for exclusion criterion.

Best, Markus

Based on other comments I would check networking or firewall since communication stops.  There is something in between causing this.  Also continue with support as they will the best for help.  I know not an answer everyone wants to hear but the community is not support just enthusiasts for Veeam.

So I right click - properties of the repo and then it re-installed and setup the components again - like a refresh.

It appears to have done the trick.

Veeam came back saying “there is a permission issue on Linux repository side”. Not really much help. As nothing had changed network or repo wise. (Other than using a new proxy) However, our other repo that was setup exactly the same and at the same time has not had this issue.

Anyways so far since posting this and doing the refresh the immutable repo has not dropped off again.

Great to hear you fixed the issue.
