I am trying  to Do the updates on 2 diff company's that I manage, but currently have a Drive space issue on both of them.
Need some guidance on how can i transfer the current installation from C drive to another drive and some assistance on how to move the current configuration from  the current server to  a brand new server thats going to do the backups.

I checked some documentations but was not able to find any  good material myself.

Thank you in advance

Hi John

Firstly I’d suggest that if you are in the middle of an upgrade and are facing issues, then contact support using https://my.veeam.com
They will likely also point you at the upgrade check list, which recommends 35GB of free space. There are several guides to upgrading, including this one also on the Community pages.

You should always have copies of your current configuration (not stored on the local/default respository) available. Not just for upgrades, but in case you need to rebuild (or even test) your VBR server.

If the current VBR Server installations are virtual, then back them up, and modify the disk allocation (freeing up more space on C:). If they are physical, then again, back them up with an Agent, and restore to a larger disk, or better still, a virtual platform.

Good luck.

Thank you for your suggestion think this would be the best way to proceed with this

Hi Johnny,

Good to hear that this will help you, sorry that its a bit short and concise.
Can you mark my post as Best Answer it this is the solution for you?

It should be noted that you can do a migration and upgrade at the same time.  However!  If the new deployment is using Postgres and since you’d be coming from MSSQL, you can’t make that conversion in one swoop and would need to use the method listed above.  But if you were using MSSQL on the new 12.2 deployment, you could restore/migrate/upgrade all at once.  It’s worked for me, but YMMV, and I haven’t tried it to 12.2….I think only 12.1 or 12.0.

About the space issue problem remember that For the required space on disk, the minimum disk space is calculated on the flight after the system configuration check during the upgrade procedure. It is based on the list of required packages to be installed on the machine and usually is about 9 GB. We recommend providing 35 GB of disk space: 3 x ISO size (30 GB) in the selected installation path (for example, D:\VBR) plus 5 GB for the database operations on the system volume (for example, C:).
