Hello,

I have a question, please. I've noticed on Veeam Backup that I still have incremental and full images for some VMs that have been removed from the backup . I use a daily retention of 14 days with 12 days as immutable and some Full in GFS. Does the 14-day retention mean that Veeam will keep the restoration points created in the last 14 days indefinitely, or should these restoration points be deleted?

Thank you for your assistance.

Hello @asaadidi,
are the restore points of the deleted VMs older than 14 days?

If not, then it is normal behaviour, because the restore points of deleted VMs age out and will be deleted after the retention time is over.

You can configure to delete restore points from removed VMs in the backup job. But be aware that they are deleted after the immutable time of 12 days in your case.

Hello @JMeixner

Thank you for your response. The images date back to 2021, and even though retention is set to 14 days, the same applies to some VMs that have changed UUIDs – their incremental backups are still available

Do you create incremental backups only? Or periodic full or synthetic full backups, too?

Hello @JMeixner

Full ans incremental backups.

Mhhh… is it possible to post some screenshots of your job configuration? Please blur all sensitive date about  customer and machine names...

Hello @JMeixner

Please have a look at the advanced setting on the storage tab.

Did you uncheck the “Remove deleted items data after” checkbox?

"Does this option also delete the GFS? We want to keep the Full, even if a VM is deleted."

Then I would export the deleted VMs and delete them from the backup job.
