Hi @Anandu

Most likely a descision of veeams developing and R&D  resources.

Building a linux version will have a great cost in money.

If you want to read more about the why, i recommend to read this topic in the R&D forums:

https://forums.veeam.com/veeam-backup-replication-f2/roadmap-for-veeam-b-r-on-linux-t67048.html?hilit=Linux

This question is more for the R&D people and not answerable by the community :)

Fully agree with @Mildur!

There are pros and cons with both platforms. At the end of the day, Windows will work fine with just one - well programmed - application running on it.

Just to add to the responses above, you cannot run “Veeam backup server or any of Veeam backup infrastructure components on Insider versions of Microsoft Windows OS (both Client and Server). This is not supported as well.

To answer your question, I would say this is because of its dependencies with Windows components such as PowerShell, .Net framework and Microsoft Universal C Runtime etc.
