Time for everyone to show their age :grinning: what version of Veeam did you first use?

Bonus points if you remember the version of the first hypervisor you used it with!

@Rick Vanover : perhaps it is possible for you and your team to show a demo how everything started 15 years ago with version 1 and how we come to version 11 (12 ?) with per version the biggest improvements/changes  , especially with screen-shots or a real live demo would be awesome

We’ll see Nico :)

The first Veeam version I worked with was 9.0.

The VMware Version was way older, 5.5 if I remember correct….

OMG @vNote42 , never seen this interface of version 5.0:smile:

Here are a few screeshots (out of the user-guide  ):

(Transport Mode have been a property of the backup job, not as today of the proxy)

select backup destination
scheduler with at least one option less than today
select Replication destination
some adv. repl. options
old restore wizard

I always say that the UI doesn't change that much over the years, but if I look at v5 then there are big differences compared to today.

Does anyone still have one of the first releases? Perhaps @Rick Vanover ?

Oh do I have a library…  I believe I still can get access to version 1 or such.

My home library I think goes back to v4. Internally here we have it all.

Would be great to see a montage for v12, Veeam through the ages!

Well this fall is Veeam’s 15th anniversary….

I’ll go first. It was Veeam version 6 or 6.1 working with VMware ESXi 5 :grinning:

My first experience with Veeam was Veeam Endpoint Backup!   I think it’s been 6 years ago or so.

Free tool for backing up Windows-based desktops/laptops.

ha show my age.. YES!! Veeam 7, so I am younger than you @MicoolPaul it turns out :)

If only 😞. Now if you ask which version of Linux.. then I would gain a few years.

I think the first version I was working with was also something like v6. I remember that back then there was no tape-support, no Hyper-V and no Exchange Explorer, when I did my first steps with Veeam  Probably it was ESXi 5 back then.

Version 6 was the first one I worked with and it hypervisor was VMware 4.x.

It was Veeam 5.0 working with VMware ESXi 4.1, back to 2010… :no_mouth:

At that time Veeam was deployed by a guy that came from Austria and worked at Knapp.

Actually the first time I saw Veeam’s console I had no clue...

Oh, just found Veeam 5 binaries on a disk of mine … if someone is interested in
