Hi to everyone,

I want to create a DR plan in AWS.

Is there a way to restore a Domain Controller (Windows Server 2022) in AWS keeping all its configuration and function as AD, DHCP and DNS?

When i try to restore it into the cloud, i’ve this error:

  • Impossible join with these credential because your domain isn’t available…..

Do you have some advice?

Thanks.

I believe in order to restore a DC to AWS your domain needs to be extended into AWS.  It would make sense based on the error you are seeing.

I would check the forums to see if there is any information there as well - https://forums.veeam.com

Hi @Reparto IT   you need to perform an authoritative restore of the domain controller with all fsmo roles on the server you restore.

Do not perform an authoritative restore in the production network

KB2119: Restoring Domain Controller from an Application-Aware backup (veeam.com)

If you have to run a simple test do it in a bubble network separate from your production network.

as written by @Chris.Childerhose  should be extended the domain and network to AWS
