[What (else) is new in v12 - IV] Best Practice Analyzer

Also new in v12 is the Best Practice Analyzer in VBR console.

In Beta2 there are 6 tests divided into two categories: Security settings and product configuration. The individual points are self-explanatory.

I hope that more and more tests will be added to this feature in next versions.

love this new feature, do you know if it’s possible to add some rules? Is it possible to generate an alarm ou request it with posh?

Good questions, I cannot answer 😂 At the moment it looks just like the screenshot. Also didn’t find  an appropriate PowerShell command.

Wow @vNote42! This is really a very great feature, and I am glad this feature is embedded within. Best practices are important to avoid trials etc! This will guarantee good outcome...

I really like this feature but wish it showed links to maybe a KB or help section for the issue to explain it more.

Yes, maybe we get something like the vCenter Health in a future release 😁

That would be cool or even connection status. 👍🏼

Wow, this is so cool addition 😃👍.

It would be even better if the result can be sent as an email or PDF report.

Agree. Instead of “copy to clipboard”.

Have you ever tested Remote Desktop Service (TermService) check?

I try disabling this one:

However, nothing on analyzer after disable the service.

[update] in RTM we see additional checks!

Yeah, these new additions are great for the Config backup part.

Service needs to be Disabled! Manual is not enough!

Hello guys, sorry to reopen this conversation, is it correct that the analyzer check only the startup type of the service and not also the status?

It seems so obvious to me, but shouldn't the best practice be "disabled and stopped"?

I hope i didn't say something already addressed, nor something stupid.. 😁

Hopefully it checks both. You could always reboot before running the analyzer to confirm anything disabled didn’t start at boot.

I was going to test this but am in the middle of some modifications to my lab, and don’t want to play with services on production at the moment 😂

I’ve already tested in my lab, this is the problem 😁🙁
