It’s time to build the hype and readiness for V12! And as I announced on the special episode #100 of the Veeam Community Recap, I’m going to make a news hub here where everything you need for V12 can be viewed in one place leading up to the launch. Upon GA; I’ll also put a link to the V12 Upgrade Center (like I did for V11). I will target updating this weekly, and if you have a blog/external resource about V12 - be sure to put it in the comments below.

Last updated:  30-January 2023

IMPORTANT:   V12 Release Update

  • The RTM release of V12 has been made available to partners on 30-January. RTM is the release for partners or for customers needing/seeking early availability of the product. If you use a Veeam Cloud Service Provider or VCSP (such as those here:  http://vee.am/splookup ) for Veeam-Powered Services; you will need to ensure that the VCSP has upgraded first. End users using VCSPs should not upgrade ahead of the service provider. Check with your service provider if you are using one for more information.

Looking forward to the release of v12 for sure but just getting the RTM for my screenshots in book is going to be good.  😋

Will be sure to post back here with other things as mentioned and monitor this for breaking news.

Fine, all information at one place. 😎👍🏼

Waiting the release of v12 for a long time. We can see the all information at here.😍

Will veeam 12 have immutable for NAS backups?

Will veeam 12 have immutable for NAS backups?

Yes, it is supposed to as you can go to Object Storage.

Waiting for the V12 Upgrade Center

Sharing a v12 blocker KB that Veeam have just released:

https://www.veeam.com/kb4390

In short: if you use “Transform previous backup chains into rollbacks” in any of your jobs, Veeam won’t allow an upgrade to take place as this feature is now fully deprecated. The KB article details the migration paths available.

Wow that is good to know for sure.  Going to get the Veeam team here to run the PS script to see how many we have. Hopefully not a lot. 😋

Many interesting features. We’ve been waiting for the v12 for long.

The short answer is that Veeam won't allow you to upgrade if you use "Transform previous backup chains into rollbacks" in your jobs. This feature has been deprecated for a long time. There are several migration paths described in the KB article.

Very cool Hunter. Nice to see more of these articles.

Hello, I don't know if this is a security issue or not because the information seems to be confidential to Veeam currently, but you can already read the helpcenter for v12 here:
https://helpcenter.veeam.com/archive/backup/120/vsphere/overview.html

Becareful of the informations and features until the release, adjustments may still take place.

Have a good week :)

wow, but it`s open info, not a “secret”. 😨
We need to the final GA to be more accurate with all the new features and stuff.

I have been using this for weeks for my book writing but it is not fully updated in sections so need to wait some more for that.

Getting excited for V12.

Question for the Veeam Employees, maybe this would be better off in the forums, but here goes.

Is there a list of all default settings somewhere, or new recommendations?

Example would be that it’s recommended to do a per-VM chain now, but if you originally configured per-job, upgrades don’t change these settings.

After a few upgrades, is there a tool that could scan your settings and configuration to say what's against best practices?

The help site is not fully updated just yet, but I am sure these will get in there at some point.  I am using it to help with my book but always needing more/updated information that what is available.  😁
