Hi Veeam team,

I recently upgraded our Veeam Backup & Replication server to version 12.3.2.3617 on a Hyper-V host (not ideal, I know). The upgrade failed. Upon reviewing, the VBR has been upgraded, but the console won't connect. An attempt to upgrade console will end up in the following error
“Unable to update the backup console because the following products are installed on this server: Veeam Backup and Replication Server”

Checking the logs, it says:

r04.07.2025 05:09:16]9INFO] Installing Veeam Backup & Replication Console
b04.07.2025 05:10:52]0ERROR] Fatal error during installation.

Steps I’ve already tried:

  • Rebooted the Hyper-V host

  • Force-stopped all Veeam services and processes

  • Tried installing console via both GUI and from ISO

  • Verified version mismatch (Console still on 12.3.1.1139, Server is 12.3.2.3617)

  • Confirmed no backup jobs are running

Still stuck in a loop where the console can’t connect or be upgraded, even after a clean reboot. Would really appreciate guidance or some kind of cleanup tool to reset or force the console install.

    Thanks in advance.

Not sure on this one. This is a really new update & not heard of this issue before. I really think your best bet is to contact Support. Keep us posted what they say.

Best.

I don't see any reason why it should not install but if you have VBR installed then console should already be there.  You typically don't install it separately.

Would consider support as Shane mentioned for this one but nothing here contradicts having it installed - https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backup/hyperv/backup_console.html?ver=120

hi @kshaikh

Try uninstalling the console in silent mode.

Try temporarily installing the Veeam console on another server on the same network as the Hyper-V host.

Hi,

Veeam Backup Service is running?

Or is there any service, which cannot be started?

Hi everyone,

Hi,

Veeam Backup Service is running?

Or is there any service, which cannot be started?

Hi Marcel,

Yes, the Backup service is running, with all other related services. But when I launch the console, it comes up with a version mismatch and prompts for an update, which then fails to complete. I'm unsure why the Veeam Server, which is installed on the same machine where the console previously ran without any issue, is now having this problem.

You could try removing Veeam altogether and then reinstall it pointing to the same database again.  Other than that a support ticket is best now.

please check in control panel - uninstall software

maybe you have some services, which are on different version - very often happens, that install service is not reinstalled to new version

but from my point of view, you have installed remote console on server with previous package and then installed VBR with latest version, so you are trying to connect with remote console, that’s why is saying that VBR is on that machine

I really recommend you call Support to assist you. To get you going to be able to use VBR again, at the very least, you can install the Console on a separate Windows computer via the latest FULL install ISO downloaded from Veeam. You should then be able to connect to VBR to manage your backup environment again.

Best.

Hi Marcel,

May I ask if the application is running under an account with the appropriate local administrator’s privileges?

Unfortunately, I could not reproduce your error
