Nimble Storage Integration - Security Measure

I created a previous post on Nimble Storage Integration with Veeam, discussing how you can potentially recover data even if a backup job’s Deleted VMs retention setting has passed. You can view the post here. For this post, I want to continue discussing Nimble Storage Integration, but provide you a security measure you can implement when configuring your Windows Proxies for Storage Integration or Direct SAN, as Veeam requires a Proxy to be configured with Direct SAN (or ‘Automatic Selection’) when using Backup from Storage Snapshots (BfSS).A fellow Vanguard and I have occasional on-going discussions on how to best secure Windows Backup Proxies using Nimble (now called whatever...Alletra? 🙄 ) for Storage Integration. This is going to be my first time setting up Veeam ONE (Enterprise Manager?). Where is some good documentation on the product as far as functionality goes. Also, what are some, if any, best practices for setting it up? Should I run it in directly on the VBR server or spin up it’s own VM? Anything will help at this point. Thanks in advance!

Slow Backup Speed

I have a backup environment that consists of: 1 physical Backup Server with a 10gbit connection to the switch that is also the primary backup repository1 VM for VMware backup proxy configured to use virtual appliance (8vCPUs & 16GB of RAM)3 node vSAN cluster all connected to the same switch via 10gbit ports When running backup jobs, Veeam starts running well, reaching read speeds close to 450MB/s for some jobs. After a while, the read speeds drops significantly for both incremental and full backups, going down to ~70MB/s in some cases.The backup proxy and the backup repository are configured to process 8 concurrent tasks. The bottleneck in all the backup jobs show 99% in source. How/where should I look for the reason of this bottleneck and what types of tests can I run to find which part is holding the backup speed down?

Kasten K10 Operator install in Openshift has excessive amount of helm revisions on K10 instance?

We have Kasten K10 on installed via operator on multiple clusters. All of the K10 instances seem to have excessive amounts of helm revision when viewed with helm history k10 Is this normal behavior? We seem to be getting ~200 revisions per hour.

If you want to know how this ended, just keep on reading 🤣. Hi,i have a customer where he has application “redis” who is controlled by redis-controller, the redis namespace have 3 deployments, and the csi driver does not support the volume snapshot so we go with generic backup.only one of the deployments get injected by kanister sidecar, and the remaining two did not, after troubleshooting we saw that the 2 deployments didnt accept the annotation:”k10.kasten.io/forcegenericbackup”, and it will be removed automatically after a few seconds.is there any possible way to inject kanister inside these deployments without adding this annotation?

Upgrade issue from V11a to V12 - VeeamExplorerForSQL.msi_explorers missing

I am trying to upgrade 11a (11.0.1.1261_22020302) to V12.1 via iso and when it gets to step 3 (Upgrading Veeam Explorers) a popup says that it can't find VeeamExplorerForSQL.msi_explorers. Error: The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.It is looking for that file in this location (which does not exist):C:\ProgramData\Veeam\Setup\Temp\80ca74a8-4c01-451b-b8df-3d76e7abf376\FixFiles\I can't find it anywhere on the machine. I did find an old log file that references that file that references version 9.5. I found that file inside an old 9.5 update. I extracted it and put it in the location asked for, but it still does not like it.

Daylight Saving Time (DST) triggers Full Files to Tape backup of complete repository?

Hi there in Virtual World :)Running Veeam 11 - We experienced a complete full “Files to Tape” backup when the daily Tape job ran for the first time after entering Daylight Saving Time (DST) last weekend.ALL files in our backup Disk repository (xx TB) - that means UNCHANGED Veeam backup files from the last 4 months - was all sent to Tape once again - taking several job-runtime days to finish - and filling up a lot of new Tapes, which we needed to supply into the Tape library.Have anybody else experienced similar issues?As far as I have read - Veeam operates in the UCT format - which should not be sensitive due Server time changes or DST - except changes in the local job time schedule:Daylight savings time - Veeam R&D ForumsDaylight saving switch changes job start time - Veeam R&D Forums We didn`t have any other issues running the usual VM Machine jobs to disk.This issue has been raised to the Veeam Support - and it has been escalated to their RnD engineers.So hopefully they wil

Stacking of Veeam backup tasks

Hello All, I have a TAPE job that works well until one day is skipped, for example, due to a holiday. In such cases, it tries to back up the missed days as well, but then it no longer fits on the tape. Currently, there are 10 processes in the TAPE job, but if a day is skipped, it becomes 20 processes, and if two days are skipped, it becomes 30 processes.I can only fix it by deleting the TAPE job and creating a new one. This again only works well until a day is skipped. I am using the following: Veeam Backup and Replication 12.1.1.56, TAPE: IBM ULT3580-HH6 SCSIAny idea? Thanks,
