Hi all, I’ve been toying around with the idea of a cli tool that works with everything and is related to the other post I put up today on the Go-Veeam-Auth that does authentication for all Veeam APIs. Anyway, I’ve come up with vcli a simple terminal app written in Go, allowing you to switch between APIs with minimal effort quickly. All the authentication is set up, so all you need to do is set some environmental variables, and off you go (no pun intended).The main output is JSON, but you can switch it over to YAML via a --yaml switch.The tool only does GET requests at the moment, as I wanted to gauge the interest before committing any more time to the project. Where the power really comes in when it is coupled with “nushell” which is a data-centric approach to shells. It makes manipulating json response objects a breeze and also allows conversion to other data formats. It also has a whole module system which I go into a bit on my GitHub. Hi all, Everyone that knows me knows that I am a massive Python geek and data science nerd outside of being a full time nerd. Anyway I’ve been working on a YouTube series on using the Veeam API with Python showing the long way and the easy way to connect, discover, manipulate and visualize data from the APIs.I will be doing deep dives later in the series as well as creating interesting apps and widgets with one of Python’s many libraries. Hi all, I’ve been using an app called “ripgrep” for a while now and wanted to share it with the community. https://github.com/BurntSushi/ripgrep“ripgrep is a line-oriented search tool that recursively searches the current directory for a regex pattern.”ripgrep is written in Rust which is “blazingly fast” for this type of operation. Hi all,Following on from my Go-Veeam-Auth library, I've created another authentication library for Rust.https://github.com/shapedthought/vauthAs with the Go library it takes that tricky authentication step out of the equation letting you get to the fun stuff.I know that there aren't many Rust developers yet, but I'm convinced that adoption will increase significantly over the next few years. (It's already been added to the Linux kernal and companies like AWS, MS and Google are adopting it https://github.com/google/comprehensive-rust)It's a great language for CLI apps especially when combined with the Clap crate (library). It's also very fast, has a small compile size due to the small standard library, cross-compiles on everything, supports WASM, and has iron clad memory safe without a garbage collector. Hi all. The EMEA SAs have recently just added a new tool to https://www.veeambp.com called the ‘Ports Finder’ (aka Ports Directory). The idea behind the tool was to make it easier to find all the ports you need for a Veeam solution. It doesn’t provide mapping for specific hosts or any of the advanced feature that the Veeam Ports Tool provides.Currently it only has VMware and Hyper-V ports; however, that will be changing soon and will have:VMware Hyper-V AHV Enterprise Manager All Explorers Windows, Linux and Solaris Agents VBR Integration with AWS and Azure Veeam ONE O365 VDROAll the port mappings were pulled directly from their respective webpages so they are 100% accurate.
