VBM365 v8 Technical Preview - Installation & Some New Goodies

Everyone that is part of the Veeam100 group gained access thanks to @Rin to the VB365 v8 Technical Preview. I took it for a spin in my lab installing it then doing a bit of exploring to find some new things and dialogues. Veeam ONE - Thread Center Dashboard - Reporting for "Data Protection Status"?

I have been digging deeper in to the VONE console especially the Threat Center Dashboard lately and the following graph that shows 0% indicates to check the Reports > Backup Compliance category -- does anyone know the specific report(s) for this that uses it?The other options on the Threat Center Dashboard name a specific report to run for the % showing but this one just gives a category. I am interested to see what report shows the details for this one and being able to remediate it.Data Protection Status - VONE Dashboard - Threat Center

HOL - Progress % Not Working

For anyone that is using the Veeam HOLs - are you having issues with completing sections and then when you click the section complete button it does not update the Progress % to 100%?I am seeing this, and it is very sporadic when a percentage will go in there. I have sent them an email but wanted a thread for awareness so people can let them know it is not working correctly.

World Back Up Day Blog of the Month Special Edition - My Story

Servers & Drive Numbers - Cause Chaos So, I thought for the blog of the month special edition I would go back to when I first started out in the IT world early in my career. I found a job as a Systems Administrator at a small law office in downtown Toronto. I was so excited to get my IT career going and this was my first job in the Sysadmin space. The firm also had an external IT company as well under contract, but they felt the need to have someone onsite to provide easier assistance to users, manage servers, etc.So, I was working there for a few months when I happened to one day do my daily routine check in the server room and noticed an amber light on one of the drives in the server. Now keep in mind I was new to IT and did not understand the concept of the hard drives starting at Zero not One (you can see where I am going with this 😂).So, to be diligent and ensure things were done right I contacted the person at the IT consulting company, and he told me that server drives

BLOG: Synology - Immutable Snapshots & Immutable Replication

I recently wrote a blog about using Synology Immutable Snapshots and Replication. I have my newest DS923+ set up as my primary storage for my VMware environment and my older DS920+ is my backup NAS as well as Replication partner.One thing that comes with the Synology DSM 7.2 upgrade (OS) is the ability to set up snapshots on a schedule, including Immutability. Veeam One Multiple Vulnerabilities - Hotfix Potential Issue

Many of you saw the hotfix that came out for Veeam ONE that takes care of some pretty high CVEs (yesterday).I checked with Support on my custom hotfixes and was given the go ahead to do the hotfix. So I implemented it this morning and now I am running in to problems with the data collection and a persistent warning message -11/7/2023 1:00:04 PM [warning]: servername: Method not found: 'System.String Veeam.Reporter.GrpcService.GrpcServices.GrpcAuthInterceptor.get_CurrentAccessJwt()'.This is an example of one line but happening for all my VBK/VEM servers added in Veeam ONE.I am working through with Support on my case for data collection to see if I need to revert the hotfix for now to allow RnD time to fix the hotfix. 😋

Veeam 12.1 CP1 - Released 12.1.1.56

I was looking in to an issue today for something and happened to look at the Veeam KB page that shows versions and updates for v12.1 - KB2680: Build Numbers and Versions of Veeam Backup & ReplicationI noticed there is a cumulative patch that released on the 17th (Wednesday) with a new build 12.1.1.56.For those that are using the Veeam Hardened Repositories this update addresses the need for the SSH to be enabled for updating. I have run tests, and it works much better for updating.You can download it here - KB4510: Release Information for Veeam Backup & Replication 12.1 and UpdatesIt also addresses a bunch of other fixes as well like the Invalid XML when opening reports that some reported here - After upgrade to V12 and DB migration to Postgresql get error when trying to show job report | Veeam Community Resource HubNot sure if this will help with your Object backups @DrObject but might want to see as there were some changes in this area.Happy patching everyone and happy Frida

Well today I will walk you through the process to use the SSD drives within your Synology NAS to create a storage pool and volume to use within a VMware environment.Now you must be using one of the supported NAS devices that allow you to use SSD as a Storage Pool as many just allow SSD drives to be used as Cache within a Storage Pool - Supported NAS Devices. You must be using a device on the supported list otherwise the only option you will have is to create an SSD Cache. Error: All backup proxies are offline or outdated -- How to Fix this Error

Someone on the Community reported the error of this post - “All backup proxies are offline or outdated” here -https://community.veeam.com/topic/show?tid=6645&fid=66I ran in to this issue in my HomeLab and opened a ticket with Veeam Support about it. I was able to figure out the issue myself and wanted to post the fix steps here so that if you run in to this issue you can take the steps needed to address it yourself.This error does not seem to report anything in the log files which was the first thing I checked. So, the steps to fix it are as follows -Remove the Proxy from the Veeam console using Delete. Remove the server from Managed Servers section - this will uninstall the components from the server. Log in to the Proxy server to ensure all components for Veeam are gone - if not remove them in the Control Panel Reboot the Proxy server Add the server back in to the Veeam Console as a Proxy server which will reinstall the components again. Validate your failed jobs by running the

Veeam 100 Summit Recap - Prague 2023

I’d like to first thank Rick Vanover, Madalina Cristil, Nikola Pejková, and everyone at Veeam for their efforts and support leading into my second Veeam 100 Summit. It’s a HUGE undertaking that requires many levels of coordination. This was my second time attending the event in person. It was an honour to attend such a prestigious event for the second time and meet many fellow Vanguards, Legends and MVPs in person. It is amazing how being at an event and being able to speak to others of the same mindset makes you feel great. As for the host city of Prague, it never fails.Day 1 included a Welcome Reception hosted by Object First.A big thanks to Kevin Allan and Probax for sponsoring our Go Kart event earlier in the day! It’s safe to assume everyone thoroughly enjoyed this experience! Veeam Enterprise Manager - API URL not working

Anyone using Veeam Enterprise Manager have issues with the API URL? We use a custom built tool that connects to VEM (VBR behind the scene) and provisions customers for our VCC. I have one server that cannot get to the API for some reason and shows the below connection reset message.I have upgraded the VEM to the latest patch from July and ensure everything with FW, etc. is configured correctly.
