Scan Yara et faille linux xz

Bonjour,Certains d’entre vous ont du surement le lire à travers les médias et différentes plateformes la nouvelle sur la faille sur xz et son histoire intrigante. Vsphere & VSAN 8, enjoy snapshot speed for backup

Hello,For those who missed the information, there is a new snapshot mode for VSAN in vsphere 8. It looks promising for speed specially on large scale infra with vsan, it will obvisously reduce the time needed for snapshot processing on the backup jobs.Scalable, High-Performance Native Snapshots in the vSAN Express Storage Architecture | VMwareCan’t wait to test it in production to compare real number from the field!If anyone already tested it, i will curious to have a feedback.

Backup Linux SQL Server

Hello Veeamers,I read the veeam docs and i don’t see any references to MSSQL on Linux.https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backup/explorers/vesql_systemreqs.html?ver=110Am I the only one to have this gift on production on VM? Except VM backup, it will be old fashioned way for DBA to play with backup on it.

Hardening OS for repositories and Veeam Servers

Hello,I’m wondering what are you using for hardening Operating System?In my company we’re using:https://www.open-scap.org/ for Linux with profils from french cybersecurity agencyhttps://docs.microsoft.com/fr-fr/windows/security/threat-protection/security-compliance-toolkit-10 for WindowsI am convinced that hardening should be mandatory in production, don’t be afraid to deploy it with your images. It works very well for Veeam Servers.PS: You should never deploy the hardening after deploying the app, you could meet horrible bugs.

Exchange vs VEEAM

Bonjour,Nous avons réalisé la mise à jour de nos DC en V11 (20 minutes de moyenne par DC) sans encombre.Nous avons constaté des performances accrues sur le moteur de sauvegarde (30%) et également sur FLR linux (40%).Pour l’instant je n’ai pas pu encore tester CDP :(, nous sommes dans la finalisation pour l’acquisition de notre nouveau SOBR sur xfs de plusieurs PBs.Je suis curieux d’avoir vos retours :)

Bonjour à tous mes compatriotes!Je vous propose une brève introduction de ma personne, Bertrand je suis lead tech de mon institution sur les sujets outils de production (scheduling,automation, backup and observability) .J’ai pu commencer à travailler sur veeam en 2015 et je suis toujours aussi curieux des évolutions de  chaque versions.J’ai cœur à sensibiliser de manière large l’importance d’une sauvegarde mais surtout d’une infrastructure de restauration performante trop souvent oubliée et dernier roue de carrosse hormis quand on doit perdre ou récupérer de la données après une catastrophe.J’ai pu participer à la création de la chaine CI/CD de mon ministère, actuellement 180 noeuds openshift. J’ai hâte de relever le défi d’adapter la sauvegarde avec kasten!J’anime également régulièrement un salon dans la sphère étatique de 80 personnes afin de partager mes retours d’experiences et veille techno autour de Veeam. What kind of storage for backup and restoration efficiency?

Hello Veeam Community, What is the trend for you to build a good repository for a large company? I’m investigating for 2021 to replace our dedup appliance, i really like the HPE Apolo Gen10 to store veeeam data on xfs!One node full HDD 50k~ 960TB, 512 gb ram, 4*25gb, xeonOne node full SSD 250k ~ 600 TB, 512 gb ram, 4*25gb, xeonThe second is expansive but could be usefull for application but very low RTO and instant Recovery DB! I want to build something focus about restore, we’r no more dupe with xfs :)

How to deal with vmware snapshot? veeam functionnality to replace this

Hello everyone,In our company due to bad practices, some application integrators was using vmware snapshot before doing applications deployments on legacy part (no more needed with openshift). Obviously they often forgot to remove snapshot or maintain snapshot cauz they’re waiting answer from project team.We replaced this hijacked habit and provide to integrator/devops the possibility to launch quickbackup in the first time. It was not enough for stagging part and we had to provide capability to create veeam zip with one year retention (yes i know it’s bad...) .  We did awx roles for this too because they wre missing the vmware snapshot comment…I’m curious to hear if other people have encountered a similar situation :)

How to know / classify type of data who have been backup?

Hello Veeamor / Veeamers :D!I want to inventory and classify, what kind of data is backuped and store with veeam.I was thinking to use excellent work from @benyoung with dataintegration but i will have performance issue.If i have to request 5000VMS+ and mount all vmdk with then process all data, it could be too long. After data gathering, i’m pushing it with python to elasticsearch (ML incoming on it). What is your suggestion about it? Maybe i’m going to the wrong path ! Have a good friday everyone!
