In this KB https://www.veeam.com/kb4027 The Huawei Plug-In for Veeam Backup & Replication reached End-of-Life on 2022-04-22 and is no longer available. VBR cannot call Huawei storage with it’s API to complete the backup job with storage’s snapshots. https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backup/vsphere/system_requirements.html?ver=110In user guide of VBR v11, Veeam Backup & Replication does not offer integration with Huawei storage. According to the above, Veeam VBR cannot support any backup integration with Huawei storage. If the environment only includes VMware ESXi 7 and Huawei storage, what is recommended backup mode can be selected in VBR v11?

I have backup job on one of my VM windows server 2016 . I set up backup job and it show this warning and completed with an warning, 6/7/2023 2:04:27 AM :: Failed to index guest file system. VSSControl: Index failed Details: vss::CVeeamIndexingProvider::NetTryCompleteIndex. Hello,I have an interrogation, about how Veeam works with Forever forward Incremtal backup job and immuability.I know that’s not possible to use this kind of job with an hardened repository, even if you try to configure it, Veeam will pop up an error message. But how it work with capacity tier with object lock enabled?Veeam doesn’t transfer all data block to the capacity tier but only the new data blocks and metadata from each new backup file. (System similar to ReFS/XFS). I read the documentation about block generation but it’s not really clear in my head.If someone have a schema that would be nice.thanks

Veeam Backup & Recovery 9.5 (VMWare)When setting up my Backup Jobs. “I Enable backup file encryption.” If I am correct this would mean that the file is “Encrypted at Rest” on the backup disk.After 30 days I move this to a Amazon S3 Bucket. I have set up the Capacity Tier to “Encrypt data uploaded to object storage”. Is the Backup “Encrypted at Rest” in the S3 Bucket or do I need to turn on disk Encryption in Amazon?Is there some documentation that explains the above scenario?

Hey, Don’t know about you guys but I feel Veeam are missing what could be a very successful trick here with their SureBackup and Pre/Post Processing script functionalities. I know we have VeeamHub for some PowerShell scripts but I think to really push the value of Veeam integrating into our customers’ enterprise application stacks it would be great to have a more direct interface of getting scripts into Veeam. I’ve seen plenty of systems integrating “stores” or other web fronts to enable simple access. It’d be great to see ways of integrating with systems that have been seen as “traditionally” unfriendly to snapshoting and also to validate more complex workloads.I’m sure there are plenty of great scripts out there that just aren’t being shared due to lack of visibility of the existing platforms but driving it into the client would really improve feature take up. A customer uses the copy function for capacity tier to instantly copy on-premises Veeam backups (retention of 30 days) to object storage. They’ve configured object lock on the object storage (60 days) that has a duration longer than the local backup policy. As Veeam cannot delete a backup in object storage at 30 days, will it delete it after the object lock expires (60 days) or does the customer need to manually delete the files on object storage?My thoughts are Veeam will clean up those files once the the 60 day lock has expired, but got me scratching my head for sure
As we’re getting close to the end of the year, I’m curious if anyone has heard anything about a new VMCE exam. I passed the 2021 in Dec last yr. From my recollection, I thought the exam only lasts 1yr. But, if there’s not a new exam, or is severely close to being released at the end of the yr, isn’t that cutting it a bit too close for those of us who need/want to renew?Thanks.
Hi! We just recently changed our service account password that we use for Veeam services. So I went into Credentials and Passwords > Datacenter Credentials > Manage Credentials and made the change there after changing the account password in AD. I know Veeam processed the password change because the proxy servers and repo servers went back to online after being offline after the change. However, after a couple of nights, all the backup jobs failed. Long story short, the Veeam services using the service account did not get change so the services had to be restarted.What is Veeam’s behavior after a password change? I would tend to think that Veeam would at least pop a message stating that it is not changing the Veeam services credentials and this has to be done manually. What am I missing here?

Hello,I'm using Veeam 11 community edition. I'm having trouble booting from the recovery media. First of all the "Press any key to boot from CD or DVD" is displayed in German. When I do press a key the system hangs at a screen with the blue 4 pane window image, a MS Windows image. I also noticed I don't get the option to include drivers when building the image. Please let me know if you have any ideas.Thank you,Frank

Hello to all,It’s me again with the new topic. 😁I have question about Retention Policy.How the chain is going to be deleted?As I try to figure out it should be when the file is created and from that day it will be available before the retention policy in my case “14” days is over.On the 15th day it will be erased or?This is my current settings: I have active full backups on the first Friday.We are doing full backups on Friday and the rest is incremental.Can someone give me more information on retention policy and also on the Synthetic full backups periodically.Thank’s to all the forum users.Probably the best forum in my opinion.
We are running 11a with IBM SVC storage integration and storage snapshots. On our Linux proxies there are regularly leftover multipath devices. In the case below the only mapped device at this time is the 5GB disk (mpatha, for testing). There is no backup running anymore, no 10 TB disk should be there.
