While creating Azure blob storage, what exactly is the configuration in Azure that we need to do in order to activate Immutuble in Veeam?
Hello everyone,As you know, we cannot always take a backup by installing a remote Linux agent with Veeam B&R. Because it does not support some systems. We use Veeam Linux Agent as a nice solution here. I was using this for a few of my clients. But the biggest problem is that SMTP configuration cannot be made. Is there an additional solution for this? Or is there a possibility that such a solution will come to Linux Agent in the future?
We have vbk files from Dec 23 and Jan 24. Do you we need those fie for restore? Our retention was 15 days and it was reduced to 4 days.
Hi to everyoneI am trying to take a backup for two disks on a physical machine (a server) with windows server. I have the next warning I understand that Veeam Backup cannot access to the folders that have Oracle databases and I have two questions.Is the backup usefull in case that I need a recovery? I know that all data couldn’t be read inside the disk.Could I give the credentials (username/password) to access Oracle databases? at the moment where I installed the windows plugin over the server I accepted the option to install Oracle RMAN plugin. I have a job that was canceled or stopped by VEEAM support 20+ hours ago and it is still running and I need it to be stopped as I am trying to do some other things any thoughts on how to stop it forcefully? This job is writing to Azure blob storage
vCenter shows disk consolidation requested by Veeam but also displays percentage of completion. What's a good plan to be able to restart the Windows DB VM? See screenshots below.From what I know, it is not a good idea to reboot while consolidation is going on. However, this has been going on for at least 2 days and the DB residing on the server is performing poorly. I have requested the DB folks to try to restart the DB instead of the server but in the event that this would be the only option that is left to do, what is a good way to go about doing a VM reboot. I have disabled the job in Veeam and has cancelled another Veeam request to vCenter to run another consolidation (thoe one showing 0%).
Hello Again 😖We’re on Veeam 11.0.1.1261 P20220302. Only using the Backup and Replication portion. No VeeamOne etc.. Am curious if there’s a way to get a summary of what type of compression/deduplication ratios we’re seeing besides what’s on the email generated on job completion.I assume each job is going to be different. You’ll probably get better ratios on full backups than incremental.Do I need VeeamONE here to do this?
Hi, I am trying to backup the Windows PC’s on my LAN using Agent backup and am having the same issue as the person on this post: https://forums.veeam.com/servers-workstations-f49/creating-new-backup-in-protection-group-issue-t79935.html I have read the issue several times and I don’t think I understand the terminology being used. And I have successfully installed Agent on my Windows machine and executed the command to connect to B&R. I also see the machine on B&R. Ideally, I would like to schedule backup jobs for this machine and also be able to run adhoc backups using the B&R console.Is this possible? Thank you, Hammer
Hi all,I took the VMCA 2024 exam this week and passed.My exam was NOT based on one central scenario but each question got a small introduction, setting the scene description of an environment, company,…And then based on this description you got your question.Other thoughts: Learn the details: some questions are really into details of functionality. Without studying, these questions are hard if you’re not confronted with them in your day to day interaction with Veeam prodcuts. The Rasmus’ videos are very helpfull. Altough they’re getting outdated (direct to object storage was not possible yet during these videos) Use ‘reverse logic’ and decimate the answers of the multiple choice that you think are totally wrong in this case. It makes it easier to make a selection of correct answers.
Can you use and test with SureBackup if you are only using a Linux Hardened Repository?

Entity Configuration settings Media pool Full and incremental backups use different media pools. Media pool (retention) Protect data for <desired period> Media set (retention) Create new media set for every backup session Source (backup job) Forward incremental backup that runs daily with synthetic Tape job Export current media set.. on specific days Scheduling Forward incremental job running every day with weekly full backup. Tape job has been scheduled to run every day after primary backup. Hi Everyone,I need some guidance on deploying a new hardened backup repository as a SOBR extent. Current we have a customer which uses a regular windows repository as extent doing copy to an Azure blob. We need to move all the content (backup chains) from this Windows repository to the hardened one (using imutability). I´m trying to find out the appropriate way to do that. There is only one performance extent (with data locality policy) and we are not able to add the hardened repo because all extents need to have same imutability settings. Cannot evacuate because there is no other extent to evacuate.How can I accomplish this without having to download metadata or resync data with Azure blobs? Our goal here is to only offload old repo content to the hardened repo and set them as extent copying data to Azure, if possible, doing little to no change on Azure tiers/blobs to avoid costs.
I cannot find it. It may be very old or a ghost one. What is the easy way to figure out the “in using an object” from the VBR Management console or PowerShell? Or is there any way to force delete the credentils?
We relocated one of our VMs to another backup job and noticed that the job completion status information for the VM is “Resetting CBT per job settings for active fulls”. Our backup jobs are configured with incremental backups and one synthetic full backup per week. I am curious if we move one of the VMs to another backup job, does Veeam automatically perform an active full on it? Thanks Pete
Running Veeam v12 and currently backing up for 14 days to a local HPE storeonce.I want to also put a longer term copy into an AWS S3 bucket for about 1 year. Probably once a month.The best option I think is to perform a backup copy, not via a SOBR.If via copy is there a compatibility issue creating a copy job from storeonce catalyst repos to S3 repos? thoughts?
So we are deploying Veeam for ourselves and I have been fighting with it for a few days. Our setup is: Veeam server - Non-Domain joinedVeeam Proxy - Linux with XFS volume attached via RDM in VMwareA scale out Repo setup that is backed by the xfs volume from the Linux machineOur primary Altera arrays are also added into Veeam under the storage Infrastructure and i am able to browse the snapshots on them and perform restores. Both servers are located in the same site/network. The storage is coming from a LUN on an Altera Hybrid array that is presented to both hosts in the esxi cluster.We have a mix of domain joined, non-domain joined windows machines along with some random Linux boxes. I just have a simple nightly backup job created that has all of our servers included in it. I have selected the Linux proxy for the backup proxy in the job which then pulls in the Scale-out Backup Repo. In the advanced settings everything is default with the exception of changing the compression level
Hello Veeam Community,there is a problem to connect to our SP Console.When i use the URL we configured with our Cloud-Gateways vcc.xxxx.de and i validate the Certificate from the SP i get the Error: Connection to Cloud Provider cannot be established.Has anyone some ideas to solve this Problem?Thanks for help!

I started installing Veaam backup&replication (v12). I ran out of space on the VM where it was installed so I aborted the installation. After I did that I got the following error when running setup.exe:An error has occurred: C:Program FilesVeeam Backup and Replication CatalogVeeam.Backup.CatalogDataService.exeI deleted as much as I could and can't find any traces of Veaam. Then tried again, but it doesn't work. Server rebooted several times as well.
Hi Community,We are using as AV solution Sentinel One. This Solution isn’t standard included in the AntivirusInfo.xml for Secure Restore/SureBackup. So I had to create my own entry, based on very little info and no list of error codes. It’s working but I don’t feel 100% safe as it wasn’t standard included or supported. During a recent Veeam On Tour it was brought to my attention, that using a different AV solution other then the one that’s active on your server bring an extra level of security/check. Now standard on this windows servers os Defender installed.Defender is also standard part of the AntivirusInfo.xml. We don’t want 2 AV solutions add the same time active on our systems. However if we could for example with SureBackup start a PS script that activate Defender at the start of the job and deactivates it again add the end of the task. This would be a great solution to me. Has anyone here this kind of solution in place and would like to share the PS?What about the AntivirusInfo.
We recently purchased Veeam Orchestrator, and I’m going through creating a plan.Is there a course or class that goes over how to configure it? I’m not sure what type of Plan (CDP Replica/Replica/Storage/Restore) I should be choosing. I didn’t find a way to choose the individual servers or exclude VMs from the plan. From what it seems, I need to create new backup jobs of the critical VMs I want included on the plan.For some background I am backing up from VSphere to a local repository and wanting to test whether we can restore to a DR site vSphere using the latest backups.I also noticed that during the install of Orchestrator it installs ONE and B&R. Does that seem right? I don’t recall seeing an option to not install those. From what I’ve read it installs a lite version, but I’m not sure if I should configure anything in them.Thanks!

Morning all. Hoping someone can help identify the best method available to us for migrating to new hardware. Overview of current setup:All in one VBR server (physical) Currently on v11 Local storage (ReFS volume) SOBR using Wasabi S3 for the capacity extent. Backups are copied to capacity. 1 job (agent managed) backing up 7 physical servers at remote sitesOverview of new setup:All in one VBR server (physical) Fresh install of v12 Local storage (ReFS volume)How would we best approach moving the data/job from the current setup to the new setup? The approach needs to consider the following: Ideally, we want to use VeeaMover in v12 to move the data between current and new setup so that we maintain the ReFS block cloning savings. The storage from the new system cannot be directly attached to the current system, but the servers are on the same LAN.
