Kasten License in Openshift. Infra nodes consume kasten license. Why is that? Can i prevent it?

There’s a setting to ignore the infra node. Log a support case.

Deploying and acessing Veeam Kasten K10 on a Red Hat OpenShift cluster

Hi! After getting some support and orientation from the K10´s VUG, I wrote this post showing the steps to deploy and access Veeam Kasten K10 on a Red Hat OpenShift cluster. Pure Portworx PX-Backup and Kasten K10

Hi Markus, As far as I know, there isn’t such a comparison out there for both solutions.  Nevertheless, I’ve been reading a bit about Portworxs and I can see many features are similar to Kasten, but still there are features where Kasten is still a more complete solution, like: Kanister blueprints can be used in Kasten to provide consistent backups for data services like relational and no-relational databases.   Maybe I’m wrong but Portworx support here is much more limited. Kasten DR feature allows to recover the entire K8s cluster even if Kasten itself is broken after a disaster.  Again, I’m not aware of any similar feature in Portworx which is kind of important for your DR strategy. As you already have OpenShift in vSphere, if you eventually use vSphere CSI for PVCs, you can leverage Veeam Repositories also for Kubernetes backups. If you are planning to migrate your apps to the cloud, or you are planning a hybrid strategy, including DR features, maybe Kasten could be more flexible

Pure Portworx PX-Backup and Kasten K10

Did anyone a comparison of Pure Portworx PX-Backup and Kasten K10?  General conditions of our environment: - Veeam VBR (and other Veeam Products) in place - Mostly OpenShift kubernetes clusters Most clusters OnPrem on vSphere but public cloud is on the road map - Currently NetApp Trident as PV storage but this is a moving part and we evaluate Pure Portworx OnPrem  If Portworx is our new OnPrem PV storage it might be a complicated decision.  It is an interesting question. I am completely honestly to you. Both are great product having slightly different focus. You might notice Kasten is talking about #1 Kubernetes Backup with no hardware storage offerings while Portworx is touting #1 Kubernetes Storage with Backup as an Add-on. Since you’re an existing Veeam user, it makes more sense to go Kasten since it is now part of Veeam.Having said that, if you decided to go with Portworx Storage, ask yourself the question, why not Portworx for Backup as well? Portworx will do anything they can to

The Kube Ambassador Great Veeam Swag & Great Auth0 Documentation

Hi Folks,   The last one of the year. It has been a long journey this year but a lot of fun. Next year.. yes that is right it can only get better… or worse.. but that depends on you and me!. Backup for GKE from Google Cloud

 Very interesting.  Will have to see what the others do but Kasten is still the backup tool. Expecting more competitions in the Kubernetes backup space.

 Very interesting.  Will have to see what the others do but Kasten is still the backup tool. I agree with you. But seriously, if my needs are pretty basic, do I really need any 3rd party tool? At the end of day, Google is enhancing their feature and capabilities anyway. I’d predict every cloud will follow and introduce their own Kubernetes backup tools.

Kasten K10 Licensing for Service Provider

Talk to Veeam / Kasten guys, there’s a special license for small environments (I recall up to 4 cpu, 16g  memory) doesn’t have to be service provider. @JMeixner

Cross-cluster Migration - Cassandra

Hello, I am trying to migrate a statefulset of Cassandra from one cluster to another.  I am running into issues that I believe are more related to the statefulset applications than Kasten but, could be wrong. One key aspect is the namespace and K8s cluster domain change on the destination side.  I think this is where having different NS and domains between clusters can be problematic.  Since the application uses DNS to find pods & services, this breaks things when the migration occurs.  So when the restored pod starts up, it is looking for the old DNS name of the pod/svc.  It seems the only real way to modify a statefulset is to perform an update (rolling, canary, etc...) or delete, modify, redeploy.   So I tried (on the destination system) to restore only the PV, modify the statefulset [change NS, PVC template, and value for seeds DNS], then deploy the app. Pods attached to the existing PV But then Cassandra could not find any seed nodes and decided to reinitialize the DB (as br

10 mins to automate a GKE 1.25 cluster and protect it with Kasten K10

According to the documentation K10 does not support Kubernetes > 1.23? You can try by yourself too. It only takes about 5 minutes. You can launch a GKE 1.25 with PostgreSQL and Kasten pre-installed plus backup policy configured, jobs kicked off.

According to the documentation K10 does not support Kubernetes > 1.23? True, officially, it is not supported by Kasten. Based on my testing, it just works fine.

Installing k10 on EKS cluster

@Yongkang I have used your scripts for installation. K8 installation goes successful but K10 fails with the above mentioned error.  @jaiganeshjk The above error I get during k10 installation on eks cluster Thanks, Prasanna I just tried this afternoon and has no issues. Very importantly, remove all your old cloned repo and do a fresh git Clone as I'm keeping enhanced it if I found any issues from either AWS or Kasten.

Hi Team, When I try to install k10 on EKS cluster I get the below error. I need some help in resolving this.
