Request to go was declined.  Have fun! Which I could go. ai…  Dries, suggestion: become a vanguard or legend …  I would love to come over… but… as a veeam-employee it actually means that IF I would be allowed I’ll be working there 🤣… An idea and a presentation was suggested… so fingers are crossed. Yeah would be great to become one of those 2 :)

VMCE exam personal experience

I took mine in January. I can recall the test centers vs online.I choose the test center with a 1h30 drive to clear the head with some good music. Worked well for me as I passed with 89%.VMCA is coming up. Took the course a while ago.

@smarivoet is there also recording of the unplugged session.  Ghent was the closest one to drive (1h). Mechelen is a 1.5hour drive for meetup of less than 2hours.  Keep in mind it was not for partners ;-) you mainly have the PA’s for that.   We explicitly took “other” locations to find out the belgian hotspots :-). So instead of having the usual like Antwerp-BXL-Bruges, we took Mechelen, Gent, Hasselt. Personally I think one is missing at Oostende/Ieper…  that would have been great so close ;)

Veeam Proxy for Linux has Problems with LVM

Thanks for the great and detailed post. Is there also an issue if you use LVM on the target VM’s? All are systems are setup with LVM for the data disk.

For me it will also be virtual this year, would have loved to do the trip to Las Vegas but not possible at this time. Hopefully next year or indeed smaller EMEA events.

New in v11: combine vSphere tags

A tag on your datastore can cover this as well.Newly created vm’s on that datastore are automatically in back-up with the job.

Protect Configuration Database

While having a configuration backup copy option would be nice, consider just storing the configuration backup to a off-site backup repository to begin with. All our Off-site backup repositories are in a SOBR. We have to add the repo a second time with another path to be able to backup to this repo. I get that; however, that is like a 2 minute task so I would strongly recommend to just do it. yes we do :)

ReFS issues with latest Windows Server Updates (KB5009624, KB5009557, KB5009555)

We decided to decline the updates from our WSUS after seeing the thread on Reddit before MS pulled them. https://www.reddit.com/r/sysadmin/comments/s1jcue/patch_tuesday_megathread_20220112/ The servers that got patched don’t show any errors.

VBR v11 🔥 Requirements and Limitations Veeam CDP

All hosts in a cluster must be of the same major version: 7.x or 6.x (6.5, or 6.7, or a combination of 6.5 and 6.7 is supported). In turn, all clusters managed by the same vCenter Server must also be of the same major version. We have a use case to implement CDP on our vsphere 6.7.If we plan to upgrade to 7.x then we need to shutdown the replication until both clusters are on the same version? Or how is the upgrade path for this? thx in advance.

[PowerShell, PowerCLI] Check for VMs that are not being backuped

Excellent resource. Thanks a lot.  Will it be still valid for future releases or you need to do some housekeeping stuff? Thanks! Good question. The beauty when using PowerShell is the compatibility. This Script will work in v9, v10 and v11 as well.    For V11 you need to change the “Add-PSSnapin VeeamPSSnapin” with "Import-Module Veeam.Backup.PowerShell"
