VeeamON 2024 - Use Code "COMMUNITY10" for 10% Off!
Great post Luiz and a great visual aid to map the Veeam features to the NIST requirements.
I’ve found these type of errors are due to underlying corruption on the target machine. The physical disk if a physical machine and we’ve found this on a corrupt disk presented as a datastore in vmware
Gutted I missed this one but was travelling :( looking forward to watching the recording when it comes out. An in person event would be good or maybe if enough interest you could split into a northern and southern in person events?
Great work Shane this should help lots of the community members now and in the future
Thanks for having me on, it was a really enjoyable experience and some great articles for the recap.
Great work Shane, looking forward to participating in this.
Thanks for putting the effort into setting this up @Geoff Burke. Looking forward to this one especially as I need to resit mine this year.
@dips not as far as I am aware but it's possible a trigger could be created and scripted although I’ve not done that personally. Would it not be better to review which certs need renewing before auto-renewing them?
@dips for tracking certs I’ve used Powershell scripts previously. These were integrated into Nagios and you could configure the thresholds and also ignore thumbprints to cut out the false positives.
It staggers me that this is still a widespread issue. Thanks for sharing this Luiz.
It would be interesting to see if the proxy or VMware can vmotion fine. I’ve seen issues in the past where the host has locks on files and a restart of the management services fixes it or worst case a host restart.
I found that by disabling automount on our Windows proxies the issue became less frequent. From and elevated cmd prompt > Diskpart Automount DisableExitexit
My SubmissionWorld Backup Day Blog – Sometimes we need a bit of luck.
Did the original course but VMCA 2022 was the only one I took and passed. Which I need to renew this year for the pro-partner stuff.
Thanks for sharing Joe, It’s a great article.
Great news thanks for highlighting and driving this one Shane
Great article Joe thanks for sharing.
Are you able to take VSS snapshots manually on the VM in question? This KB article should assist in that. KB1980: Using the Diskshadow Utility to Manually Test VSS Operations (veeam.com)Failing that I’d recommend logging a ticket with support to investigate further.
I assume this is a VM level backup rather than agent?Do you have gust file indexing and Application Aware processing enabled? If so i’m wondering do you get the same issue with those disabled?
We are considering Nutanix so this would be really useful
I’d say the easiest place to start would be the status of the VSS Writers.VSSAdmin list writers Check all the writers are ok. Typically if some are failed a service restart or server reboot will help.Otherwise I’d check the job log files in “%programdata%\veeam”
Cirrusly 🤣
Thanks for the update @jb16wer Definitely need to try these out.
@FrankIversen My understanding is the VCSP model including licensing via pulse should be expected around May / June
Congrats all and welcome @atinivelli @CarySun @Epicfailing
