In version 11 we could open the properties of a tape and check on tab Jobs to see which sessions are on this particular tape. We used this to note on the case label and could keep track on which tape has the oldest data. Now we have upgraded to version 12 but this information isn't shown anymore on the Jobs tab at the Tape Properties. How can we enable this information to be shown again. We use a HP Autoloader tape library and Veeam Backup and Replication. Great Observation. Thank you for mentioning this change as this is important in our environment too.

I wish to backup the dish of the first time I had gnocchi 26+ years ago. The pillow of pasta literally melted on my tongue. I have never found a place that could reproduce that experience. It has become my life mission to find that perfect gnocchi. I should make a Youtube channel of my journey.

I backup a hand full of VM File servers from 5T to 14T with 2 Virtual Drives. Take advantage of using a VMPROXY server for each host the VM lives in. My File Servers are on its own host and each host has its own VMPROXY Server. These Hosts have 10Gb nics. Backups are sent to its own NAS Repositories with 10Gb Nics. Incremental Daily and Weekend Active Full. With Each File Server on its own Host with its own VMProxy being backed up to its Own NAS repository streamlines the process and minimises delays for backups to complete.

Thanks for Bringing this limitation to light. I wasn’t aware this was an issue as our monthly backups are recycled annually.

Could you expand a bit further on the “I would include migrating from Current State (Backup Exec) to Veeam”, maybe provide an example or two to make sure we understood correctly? I had the in house responsibility of upgrading our Backup Infrastructure and Application. We used Veritas Backup Exec and a Silo infrastructure with 4 Backup Exec installations to their own tape libraries. Veeam Availability Suite was procured to replace Backup Exec. When I started this upgrade, it was my first introduction to Veeam. My mindset how backups in general worked was how we used Backup Exec as a Blueprint. With priorities and needs setting the expectations, I needed to draft my own Blue Print of the new Veeam Backup infrastructure. What do you think are the essentials, that everyone should know about when working with Veeam? I’m not afraid to admit that I am a Green Horn. I was the last to join our SysAdmin Team and was Designated the “Backup Guy”. My project was to migrate from Backup Exec to Veeam. If I were to create my own Veeam Training Course, I would include migrating from Current State (Backup Exec) to Veeam. I would also include expanding your infrastructure as requirements change.For me and My team it is essential to stop thinking Veeam works like another an other Product (Backup Exec.I think it is essential to be aware of the foundation of the infrastructure of Veeam.
