Replication Job Errors: "Object Reference Not Set..." and "Failed to Create Processing Task for VM...Host ID not Found"

Interesting. Yes...in my troubleshooting, I did see quite a few posts on both errors; but no resolution worked for me, sadly.  And while I’m thinking about it, though his post didn’t explicitly help me fully, he did give me ideas to further check within my DB for my rogue host ID. So I want to give a small shoutout to Luciano Patrao’s post, i.e. @JailBreak . ChatGPT as Veeam VMCE and VMCA exam prep

Is very interesting, but sometimes the answer is not 100% correct.ChatGPT uses old data and is not very updated that is why sometimes is not so accurate.

diy hosted backup

A customer can use VMware Cloud Director and use a normal Veeam Backup & Replication to backup VMs in the vCD. No need to be a Cloud provider to backup to vCD.VMs backup in vCD will consume one license instance like in a “normal” Veeam Replication & Backup.

No, forget is passport and I was like 😱 I also left mine in the safe and was able to return to the room and grab my passport.So if you didn't forget yours and was also in the airport without one. Home Labs

I have 2x DL360 G9 - 64Gb and 96Gb Memory - 2Tb disk 2x DL360 G7 - 112Gb Memory - 2Tb disks 1x Synology - 30Tb 1x HP Procurve 2848 1x Desktop with 10Tb just used for Backups. Of course, I don't have everything power on all the time. Since I bough the G9, I always use only this one. Only when I need to power on my VCF, vSAN, NSXT nested lab I power on G7 because of memory. Trying to find budged to get more memory to the G9 so I can decommission my G7 and try to sell them.  Just a correction on my Synology DS1515+ is 10Tb and not 30Tb(don't know where I get those 30)

Restoring all domain controllers in a Windows domain (on vmware)

hi @JailBreak  MS best practices advise against restoring a Domain Controller via a hot snpashot. I only utlized the cold vmware snapshot before performing an FFL\DFL upgrade.  I strongly advise against restoring a DC from snapshot. Snapshot for Win2k12 domain controllers (microsoft.com) Performing Domain Controller rollback via VM snapshot or Image backup? (microsoft.com) 😁   Using a backup tool for DC VMs, there is no other way.  And honestly I don't know anyone that will power off any DC to backup, particularly when using Application Aware. And has Veeam says:“ Veeam supports Application Aware backup of Active Directory for Virtual Machine and Physical Servers. “ and ”... When possible, it’s recommended to backup the Domain Controller with most FSMO” Like I said, I have done restores from 1 or 2 to all DCs in the environment, did not find any issue with that. And with old Win2K12 we could have some issues or more difficult to restor

First Veeam Installation Server - Doubts about location installation paths

I have implementations with more 500 to 1000 VMs and never had any issues with performance because of that.Even Veeam use DB is not something that is high I/O of writes and reads.But if you have the option to do it, you can of course. But in view for 100 VMs I don’t think there any advantage on performance.
