Hola!Lo más sencillo aquí, sería un backup copy Job,el cual, se lleva tus backups a otra localización, por ejemplo.https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backup/vsphere/backup_copy_create.html?ver=120Otra opcion, es una tarea nueva, de las mismas máquinas, “a otro destino”, teniendo en cuenta que no deben solaparse / ejecutarse a la vez, pero no es tan “bonita”. la licencia community lo permite, por eso no hay problemaLa limitación que podrías tener, es el tipo de destino, ya que S3 si mal no recuerdo, necesita estar licenciado.fijate en la tarea de backup, Pruébalo y nos comentas.

Hola,Por lo que veo, que el servidor físico tenga dos tarjetas de red, ok, deberían hablar por la 172.7.x.xAhora bien, debes activar en tu Veeam Server, que prefiera la red 172.7.x.x para trabajar:https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backup/vsphere/select_backup_network.html?ver=120Por otro lado, es importante, cuando configuras la segunda tarjeta de red, que no la “registre” a la hora de implementarla, ya que sino, windows server se confunde: Debe estás des-clickado.Por último, windows no diferencia vlans, para tí, deben ser NICs reales, y si tienes la red de backup, no debe estar enrulada en ninguna parte.un buen test, desde tu servidor Veeam, hazle un tracert a tu cliente, y viceversa, para ver por donde está saliendo.Debes darlo de alta por IP, no por nombre DNS.haz las pruebas y comprobaciones y nos comentas.un saludo.

Hola, para poder verlo mejor, sería bueno un dibujo / esquema de cómo hablan los equipos con el Veeam Server, Si el repositorio al que van los backups es el Local de Veeam o uno externo, si se encuentran en la misma red de Backup, etc.Asumiendo que es así, y que tus Equipos clientes (workstations) tienen 2 tarjetas de red, Prod y Backup, yo haría o bien una regla de uso de destino con la tarjeta de red indicada, con rutas IP estáticas, o con el fichero Host, pero claro, para estos como dije, tienen que tener 2 tarjetas de red.en le caso de que tus workstations solo tengan 1 tarjeta, y la red de backup esté enrutada, la salida de las workstations va a ser la misma, y en el router o Switch gestionable que puedas enrutar, se separará, pero eso es ya otro cantar.Por ultimo, si la red está presentada ok, y desplegaste el agente desde el Veam a traves de la red dedicada, ok, si lo hiciste desde la de prod por resolución DNS o así, no va a ir por la dedicada.Prueba a desplegar los agentes por

Best practice inmutabilidad

Gracias por tus respuestas ya estoy revisando los enlace, fíjate quería agregar lo siguiente, voy a probar tu script sin embargo ya no uso script sino que lo hago a “mano” como quien dice, pero por ejemplo tanto en red hat como en ubuntu, se requiere un usuario con permisos sudo para hacer las configuraciones iniciales e incluso crear el usuario que permite conectar el linux con veeam y que luego será eliminado del grupo sudo, bajo este escenario ese user debería de conservarse con un password de unos 15 caracteres, etc, porque luego si necesitamos modificar algo debemos requerir a el, e incluso si el Windows donde esta veeam fue afectado por un rasonmware y debemos presentar el repositorio inmutable a otro server de Veeam, debemos recrear un usuario para darle los permisos al directorio y esto debe hacelo un user con privilegios sudo, por ello consulto, ¿no deberíamos conversar este usuario? My Italian is null, but taking a look into this….have you tried the on hold configuration?also, when login into, do you use local username and password from the NAS, correct?due to you are attacking the NAS from clients, have you tried to mount the share locally to test?Are you,using domain users? Diffente users from the OS? have you tried another protocol like NFS?cheers.

Hola,Excelentes preguntas @Glennchot La distribución a usar, yo te diría que con la que te sientas más cómodo,no obstante, hay bastante documentación por ahí, y lo que se ve, es con Ubuntu.Aquí tienes una entrada sobre Linux hardened Repositories desde Veeam y las “best practices”.https://www.veeam.com/blog/hardened-linux-repository-best-practices.htmlAquí tienes otra entrada, esta la hice yo, Instalando un Ubuntu paquetizado con Hardening e Inmutability: Por ultimo, como bien puedes observar, un servidor inmutable, tiene que ser físico, para estar fuera de la infraestructura a proteger, si lo virtualizas, y tu hipervisor se ve comprometido, no vas a poder acceder a tu repositorio.También, tener en cuenta, una cosa es el Linux Inmutable, y luego el Hardening que le apliques al Linux, que no tenga acceso SSH, no ROOT, y el usuario que tengas que no sea miembro de SUDO, y solamente que pueda reiniciar, apagar y poco más en la máquina.te dejo aquí el link del script para Ubuntu, el cual

Indeed.I do have a USB charge-only adaptor that I use when traveling and no option to use a normal outlet to plug my phone / iPad to charge.nowadays is very common to see USB chargers all around, tons of people using those without thinking in the consequences….Always safe! Use your charger and if you don't trust the place, better run out of battery or charge something with your laptop as “last resort”.cheers!

Saludos! Estoy intentando crear un job de Backup verification and content scan only, pero no me muestras los Jobs. No entiendo porque no me los muestra. Les agradezco su ayuda! Hola,Nos puedes mandar más información?un pantallazo de tus jobs de backup, y las vms que tienen? por hacernos una idea de lo que aparece.Por otro lado, sería bueno que crearas una consulta nueva, para que sea más facil de encontrar el tema para otros, y no dentro de este hilo con una pregunta inicial diferente. 😉saludos.

CDP on it own VLAN

some time ago I separated the backup and Veeam traffic related to that.using physical nics in my hosts, creating independent vswitches, and adding the port group to those vswitches / vlan to the VBR server as another vnic (no gateway for independency)the Destination repo was also on this network, and the Veeam Proxies on the hosts, so everything was going over that network without any issues.run a test, and make sure your VBR and your proxies reach the vcenter, Prod Storage, backup storage, etc, to ensure that you will be able to “move” the data, and configure the preferred network in your VBR to ensure that uses that path as well.keep in mind this as well “keep it simple” if you need to change something, or get in “emergency mode”, you would love to have things easy and clear, not complex and tricky.hope this gives you an idea.cheers.

Ciertamente @HunterLAFR ! Acabamos de recibir un dispositivo Ootbi (Object First) para nuestro laboratorio. Realizaré la instalación, configuración y compartiré las impresiones con todos. Ya hemos realizado pruebas de concepto y el rendimiento obtenido fue muy bueno: alcanzamos los 1 GB/s per appliance prometidos en la hoja de datos. 😁 🤙Fantástico!

Repositorios Inmutables, tema abierto

Hola @HunterLAFR ! Seguimos las instrucciones de Veeam de no implementar Linux Hardened Repository en una máquina virtual. Algunas implementaciones fueron así y aconsejamos los customers a la adquisición de hardware dedicado para el LHR. Como es la forma más económica, he visto muchas implementaciones aquí en Brasil. A continuación se muestra una vista del laboratorio que uso, donde se implementa VHR en una máquina virtual. En VBR Security & Compliance Analyzer, se muestra un mensaje advirtiendo que esta no es una buena práctica de seguridad. Otra opción que estamos desarrollando es el uso de Object Storage inmutable, específicamente Object First. Esta es una solución que proporciona ventajas sobre LHR, como soporte del fabricante, escalabilidad, facilidad de uso/mantenimiento y costo atractivo. Sólo he visto lo uso de dispositivos de deduplicación en entornos/environments más grandes. :-) Muchas gracias @leduardoserrano por tus comentarios e información.Yo he visto desplegados

Reorganization of Backup Plan to achieve close to 3-2-1-1-0 rule with our Infrastructure

I’d say, with the resources you have,If you want immutability, you can deploy a Linux Virtual Server, and mount in there the Synology Volume to be used for the Immutable backups, so in case of ransomware, your vm can be hit (with the hypervisor) but your immutable data will stay immutable and “untouched”.Wasabi for external backups would be the way to go, but if you have a NO from CEO, nothing to say.SureBackup, if you have limited resources, I did the following some time ago:I setted up, and day by day, just with a couple of vms, taking into count dependencies, to be able to test my backups, is not a perfect solution, but worked for me and I was “sure” that I was able to recover.If you have your plan draw somewhere, share it with us to take a look and give you some advice if needed.cheers.

Veeam Replication Job

Hi In a previous deployment, we intalled two VBR servers, the one in the PROD site took care of the Backup tasks, and the one in the DR site took responsability of the replicas. Also the prod VBR was replicated into the replica site, and the DR backed up in the PROD. so we were able to recover for any scenario or failure, and from the DR VBR we were also able to recover a vm or file if needed. cheers. so if I understand your solution correctly, you are using two VBR one for PROD and one for the DR. You configure Backup and replication job in PROD VBR and DR VBR. can i know are you create backup job and replication job for a single VM/VMs in both side? Hi,exactly, two VBR SERVERS.The one in prod DC handles backup tasks, the one in the DR DC handles replica tasks.cheers.

Hey!if I remember properly, Drew said to me that, if you highlight to support that you are using wasabi to store your Veeam backups, as a Veeam customer, your retention time for deleted data will be 30 days, not the 90 days as “normal”.cheers.

Veeam Hardened Repository multihoming

Hi Massimiliano.I will try to give you some ideas, but this looks more like an architectual decision / issue.First of all, I rad that you want to implement a VHR Veeam Hardened Repo in the Vmware DR Cluster, right? if the VHR is a vm, its vulnerable of Datastore encryption in case of attack and your hosts get hit.Secondly, for the network split, regarding the vms, I did create in the past in my vsphere environment a dedicated vlan/network for backup traffic, presented to the Proxies, the VBR server and the ESXi Hosts, and then configuring the prefered network into the VBR server, adding also the virtual ethernet adapter to it.Third, for the workstations, if they need to reach the VBR server over the network, and you want to skip the firewall to process that traffic, you are right, at the core switches, you may need to configure some ACL / traffic rules, when a client wants to reach the VBR server IP address, it should be router over the core switch and not the FW, but you are exposing

Ante nada, muchas gracias por sus respuesta. Fueron todas de mucha ayuda. Otra consulta: Implementar Storage-level corruption guard La duda que me surge y según la documentación de Veeam, tengo entendido que este health check realiza la verificación del último punto de restauración. Por ejemplo: si tengo un periodo de retención de 5 días, y yo habilito esto para que se verifique ese quinta día ¿Qué sucede con los restantes puntos de restauración en caso de estar corruptos? Capaz lo estoy comprendiendo erróneamente. 1er dia: Full Backup - 2do dia: Incremental - 3er dia: Incremental -4to dia: Incremental - 5to dia: Incremental + health check ¿Ese health check impactaria sobre todos los incrementales? Is it just me are we seeing more and more of these Remote Access software getting hit?

I do believe that, to hit a “large enterprise” which spends millions in cyber sec, the best way to do it is by infecting the “sub contractors”, clients or free lancers, those who dont have the budget to be at the ultimate stage of security, and the remote access tools after the pandemic became very popular, and those are heavely used by “none rich” companies, a good target to jump later on into the giant ones.Just my personal thoughts and experience here.cheers.
