“we have snapshots ...why would we need backups?”Or “Hyper-V is stable enough, we don’t need backups!”“RAID 1, means we have two copies of data ..right, no need for backups”

VBR File explorer - large transfers

so to give more info customer, uses VCC-B for off-site backups, but wan’t to move that backup data into Google Cloud …..

Community Hub vs R&D Forums?

as I understand it the R&D forums would be the best place to allow the Veeam R&D/PM/Support teams etc  to get visibility of your requests/issues/comments ..heck even Gostev has been known to contribute to discussions. This community site is just that, more based around community support/contributions. I know there’s a couple of Veeam staff who do frequent this site, but not as wide or far reaching as the R&D forums. Or have I picked it up all wrong?

Who’s going to South Coast Summit 2022?

Morning everyone,   If you aren’t already aware, South Coast Summit takes place this month!   What is South Coast Summit? It’s a Microsoft focused community event, talking everything Azure, M365, D365 etc. There’s official Microsoft representation too and a ton of vendors will be there such as Veeam! https://www.southcoastsummit.com Where is South Coast Summit? The Ageas Bowl, Southampton When is South Coast Summit? Saturday 15th October, though there are hackathon/workshop events on the Friday too!   What does it cost? The workshops are £25/50 depending on deals, Saturday is FREE’   I’m gonna be there and I’m wondering if I’ll see any of your awesome faces there too? Just you I suspect …. just you ;)

Using password keepers (LastPass/Bitwarden etc) for storing admin sensitive info?

both, I use it personally, paid $10 for the premium edition, to help support the coders. We also use the on-prem version for organisational stuff/shared credentials etc

VBO repo migration

Hello @Cragdoo, To move your datas to another repo you could: 1. Disable all backup jobs related to the repository you want to move. 2. Stop all the Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365 services before moving any data. 3. Copy the backup repository data to the backup repository location on the new repository location (using robocopy for example). 4. Start the Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365 services. 5. Add the new repository with the moved data. 6. Open backup job settings and specify to use the new repository. Some more detailed informations could be find here:https://www.veeam.com/kb2649 There is also  a Powershell cmdlet “Move-VBOEntityData” that could be use to move data from one repo to another repo.https://www.veeam.com/kb3067     Just one note from a service provider perspective. If a number of organizations are configured on the same server, it may not be possible to stop the services and put all the backups on hold while the data is being moved. This

Capacity tier - copy mode - work space

“...Veeam Backup & Replication initiates a new copy session which simply extracts data blocks and metadata from each new backup file (.VBK, .VIB, .VRB) created on any of the performance extents of your scale-out backup repository and copies these blocks and metadata to the capacity extent”so as I read that blocks are streamed to the capacity tier, like restore only streams the blocks to the target rather than downloading the whole file?

LTO roadmap has been extended up to Generation 14

offsite tapes are all well and good …..but how many people have either a) tested restores or b) actually had to restore in anger, 2-3 years down the line?   I have a client that I deployed tape to this summer.  Next week I’m going to be replacing their SAN (and upgraded their NAS’s that are used as Veeam Repo’s), but before we pull out the old SAN, they had this crazy/not so crazy idea to do a full restore of all VM’s from the tape to the old SAN to verify all is well.   And how did the restore go? flawless?

Cool Tool - Visualise JSON data with jsoncrack

Swagger has been a thing for VBR since V11 That does look to be a very cool tool.  Always wanted to get more in to RestAPI stuff with Veeam so will give it a go.  Thanks for sharing Craig. RestAPI on Veeam is a thing that I need to study yet.   With V11 introducing Swagger then it can be quite easy to get into. I think Niels Engelen did a good introduction to REST APIs with Veeam at one of the VeeamOn events. Also I hear @jorge.delacruz is pretty handy with REST APIs. I really need to get back into this stuff

Insider Protection - migrate folder/data

answer from R&D forum Unfortunately, there is no way to set a different directory for the insider protection cloud bin, you can only change the folder name via registry (but that's it).What if we move the data to another system, but map the folder on the original system to the new location?

Insider Protection - migrate folder/data

wonder if you can repoint to new location via registry change or the likes? That would definitely be a great enhancement as keeping these on the same location as the actual repo seems like bad practice.  Having the ability to move the recycle bin to another drive or location would be ideal to have the files away from the main backup files. 😁 great minds think a like, almost a BackupCopy job for the Insider Protection data
