Great write up from a great guy! Most times, they forget how they started. I think Musk is losing it. Perhaps, it’s all market strategy because he did this with Bitcoin etc. Thank you for mentioning @mkevenaar work. I never knew, therefore I will be checking it out. Is there a way to integrate this already with WordPress etc? By the way, you can write a blogpost on your product, and I will help promote it for free on my blog, and via my social media platforms.

Update: Local Admin Account lockout is now available

More information: The new lockout behavior only affects network logons, such as RDP attempts. Console logons will still be allowed during the lockout period. Thanks for the update! So, as always, protect console access!!! This is where Windows Hello for Business comes in. By the way, there is a new WHFB Hybrid Cloud Kerberos Trust Model now available. This takes away the complexity of key trust and certificate trust deployment models .You know Microsoft committed to its vision of a world without passwords! I just wish they would simplify the management of it. Certainly, there will be new developments/improvements in this area!

Windows patching for Veeam Infrastructure

The script I use writes to a log file as well so I can see what updates were completed etc. Because of that, I created another script to go scrape all of the log files from a specified group of servers. This way after “patch Tuesday” I come to work, run my script to verify, and get one file that contains info on all the servers. For a while they had me manually logging into all the servers to verify so I shut that down pretty quick lol. Looking forward to this script in the Automation Desk! Thank you 😊

Windows patching for Veeam Infrastructure

We use a patch management system for our patching on all servers which can stage and prepare them. Once ready then you say install and it installs them. Once done you can reboot right away or schedule that with the system too. The Veeam services we treat like all other systems because we send mass notifications to customers 10 days in advance of our patching window for the month (second Thursday of the month for patch Tuesday). And, of course, take snapshots of the servers before patching...because...MS... Great Advise, especially when you do not test these updates before installing them. We once had a terrible situation(s) on AWS. This was why we utilised WSUS in an upstream and downstream deployment because of the various regions involved. Afterward, we never had this issue as updates where being tested.

Windows patching for Veeam Infrastructure

I have my windows servers report to the wsus server every week to keep the reporting up to date, I forget how many days, but if there is no communication it messes up the reporting schedules. It works pretty well this way.. I really don’t want to manage a second WSUS server, it’s not that i have a “Secure” area, it’s that my veeam servers are not domain joined. I have used GPO’s to deploy windows updates, however, my script does a lot more than the GPO’s available such as emailing users, sending out notifications that the server will go down etc. It’s an all in one bundle I run as a scheduled task. It’s easy to disable a scheduled task on individual machines when I am required too. GPO’s can get more tricky to manage when someone need something disabled in 3 minutes from now. Due to the nature of where I work this is the best option and the others have been considered. I understand now! Great script by the way...

But why does your client(s) have to check weekly?
