Waiting for Chris answer doesn‘t make much sense.Each environment may have other privat hotfixes. The answer Chris will get is specific for his environment and not yours :) If you know about private hotfixes in your VeeamOne server, then please open your own support case to check if the new patch interferes with it. Hi @dcalcagno To answer your question:Yes, this happens automatically. If an object wasn‘t protected for 31 days by any job, Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 releases the license and it can be used for new objects to protect.Manually removing the license earlier than 31 days is also possible, but you need to delete all backups first. Please note, you still require a license for non-protected users (mailbox, OneDrive) if they have permission to access a protected SharePoint site, Teams or group mailbox. Best,Fabian
Hi AlexToday you can write and provide your own test scripts within a SureBackup job. Such script could check the integrity of a file. But opening all files on your fileserver will take to long. Correct. All Veeam backup files are excluded from license consumption in File to Tape backup jobs. We have the complete list in our user guide:Instance Consumption for NAS Backup and File to Tape Jobs - User Guide for VMware vSphere (veeam.com)
Also won’t file to tape jobs now get hit with that new License change? i.e they are treated like NAS backups so $$$$. Veeam Backup files are automatically excluded from consuming such licenses. Best,Fabian

The computer password could have changed between the VM backup and netapp snapshot. That would explain the no-login issue for the VM backup.Looking forward to your new test with a fresh backup :) Best,Fabian
I have 8U2 and tried some file restores and that was ok. While trying to restore whole vm somehow after restore you can't login into domain. If you rejoin domain then is ok. Restoring from NetApp snapshot with “Instant restore” there was no issue. I made mistake installing U2, don't do it and wait for official test from Veeam. Hi @Milo Milic Maybe your computer password was reseted by the AD controller between the backup and restore of that machine? This happens automatically every 30 days.When you restore a machine from a backup state with the old Computer password, login in with domain credentials will not work. There will be a error message about the trust relationship. Something like „Trust Relationship Between This Workstation And The Primary Domain Failed“ This can always happen with restored and would not be related to the U2 update. Best,Fabian

If such situation would occur, all VMs on that datastore would become unreachable/crashing.How much space you require depends on how many changes your VM writes to the datastore while running on a backup snapshot. It could be a few GB for active directory controllers, but it could also be dozens of GB for database servers with heavy transactions every seconds. Best,Fabian
Just found the command for Exchange Online. If you recover the mailbox (within 30 days) with it, you can start protecting the mailbox content. It can also be used to recover the mailbox with a new AzureAD account.https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/powershell/module/exchange/undo-softdeletedmailbox?view=exchange-ps But if you still have the user under „deleted users“, I suggest to just recover the user from there and assign a license. Hi @dloseke Your request is unrelated to the retention policy. The retention type specifies if the current state of the source object (snapshot-based) or only items within a specific time period (item-level) are protected by a job. To answer your question:We don’t retrieve deleted users when building the job list or when you edit the job. Additionally we can only protect Exchange user mailboxes, One Drive and Personal Sites if they have a user with a valid license attached. Deleted users do not have a license attached.For example, Exchange Mailboxes with deleted users are in a disconnected state. They cannot be accessed by any protocol. There is no way we can access them over the API’s. Also I don’t think you can connect them to another M365 user (connect-mailbox only works in on-premise exchange).
