I’ll say @regnor  - it works surprisingly well, surprisingly fast and goes easier than it would seem.  I haven’t done what I call “conversion restores” a lot, but Veeam has never let me down in this regard.

I should also add that the context of this conversation was also around ransomware. Thought being that sometimes incident response will want to secure the source IT assets, even with a backup ready to recover. When this happens, it sometimes forces the matter to recover elsewhere.

Timothy Dewin’s Famous RPS Tool is now Deprecated

Hey guys - this is a very good topic to discuss here. A few tings @JMeixner, @MicoolPaul and others on this: Tim has done an amazing job with this resource.  I think it’s fair to say that Tim’s blog hosted the most used social-share resource out there. We need to have these types of resources official-looking and standardized. Product Management was involved in the new version of the tool. There was also some fragmentation - Tim’s tool had things the official one didn’t - and reverse. But let met pique your interest above all that this gives a way to see what people want to do and paves the way for quick changes should new story logic be implemented. That being said - if there is some feedback to raise, bring it up and I’ll take to the owners!

Thanks for sharing this in the community @Rick Vanover. Just as with the acquisition last year, I hope that these are good news and Veeam will benifit from Anand Eswaran’s experience. Reading about growth and financial numbers always has a bad taste for me, so lets see what the future brings. Cheers, regnor! I wanted to not just share the news, but also my point of view on it. This is a good thing!

I will say that in the next release this will be a deprecated (removed) capability. It has been a fiddlesome feature.

What would you want in a Hardened Repository Workshop Video?

Does anyone thing “MASSIVE SCALE” is important? I have access to a 2 PB JBOB system. Maybe. 2 PB JBOD - wow… Is there a size limit for the hardened repo? Good question - no defined limit. But as a goal of a workshop - I don’t know if it’s necessary to cover the big part. There are system requirements (CPU/RAM, etc.) -» Which I will cover.
