Hello,

I have a very small environment consisting a of 1 Hyper-V server.  I have direct attached storage, a QNAP NAS with NFS & Object Store capabilities and a subscription with Wasabi.  Ideally I’d like to configure a backup which creates a copy on the direct attached storage, copy on the QNAP and a copy in Wasabi.

I’m seeking recommendation on how to configure the backup job.  So far I’ve created a SOBR consisting of the direct attached storage + QNAP.  I also have a Backup Copy job which uploads the SOBR to Wasabi but I’m not certain if any of this is a best practice.   The Backup Copy job is configured as a secondary location for the primary backup job.

Thanks

With encryption and correct permissions as well!

It’s quite easy to make something public if you are not careful

Speaking of encryption… Encrypt your backup data in the cloud, or someone else will do it for you. And put that encryption password in a special place, like a password vault.

Just make sure that Wasabi bucket is immutable!

Hi,

If I understand your backup plan correctly

you have 1 copy on the attached storage, 1 copy on the QNAP, 1 copy on the Wasabi cloud

that’s three copies of your data

1 copy on the attached storage and 1 copy on the QNAP

that’s copies on two different media types

1 copy on the Wasabi cloud

that’s you off-site copy

So, it’s look like you good with 3-2-1 rule
