DRO Best Practices?

We’re preparing to implement DRO in our org and I have a few best practices questions that maybe someone here could answer:Physical or VM? Is it possible to site DRO on the same server as Enterprise Manager? Should be at the DR site, right?I’m sure I’ll have more questions come up as I read through the official Veeam docs and start poking around at a test implementation. Thanks!

Restoring SQL Server Backup to different VM directly from Tape

We are using Veeam Backup & Replication(V12)  to take backup of Virtual Machines with Application-aware processing.Some of the virtual machines have SQL Server Databases.We take backup to Disk and Tape.Is it possible to restore SQL Server Database directly from Tape?If yesIs it possible to restore to different virtual machine?

VMDK Parallel processing

Can someone help me with info on how Veeam processes parallel VMDK’s? Does it uses VDDK Libraries or bypasses VDDK and uses its own libraries?  I have seen few backup solutions still struggling to achieve this parallel processing.

NetApp ONTAP Cluster Node Reboots Unexpectedly

This is a heads up with anyone using NetApp ONTAP versions 9.14.1, 9.14.1P1, 9.14.1P2, 9.14.1P4 with Veeam Backup and Replication. It is recommended to upgrade to ONTAP 9.14.1P5. This was reported in the Veeam Forums - https://forums.veeam.com/post520749.html#p520749 the bug does not specifically call out Veeam but it can occur during storage snapshots. Please see bug report for additional details - https://mysupport.netapp.com/site/bugs-online/product/ONTAP/JiraNgage/CONTAP-211013 I pasted a screen shot below. This can also occur on OEM versions of ONTAP running on Lenovo ThinkServer DM/DG storage systems😀.

Unable to open the URL for FLR after updating our Veeam Azure appliance

Hi, we have applied the available security patches and upgraded our Veeam backup Azure version 6 to 7 Yesterday. Since then, we are unable to go to the url that the FLR creates for any of our restore requests using Veeam appliance portal. We have not made any change in Azure or in Veeam side except applying these updates. We have checked and all permission for service accounts are fine, the NSG in Azure clearly shows allowing port 443 for the worker instances vnet /subnet so we cant really think of anything else that could cause this issue. We have raised a support case with Veeam as well and they have asked us to try the worker IP address to browse to the URL that we also tried without any luck: Any advice would be highly appreciated. Does Veeam Backup for M365 support tenants with per device licensing?

I know the Veeam M365 licensing is on a per user basis , e.g. every customer user assigned an M365 license = 1 Veeam Backup for M365 license. But for those customers on per device licensing (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365-apps/licensing-activation/device-based-licensing) , how is this handled? Can’t find anything relevant.

Veeam backup and files

hello,I have two instance of Veeam with Hardened repository. On each there is one Job and this contain all VMs from specyfic vCenter.But on one instance of veeam i have one VIB file per day contining all VMs and on second instance I have one VIB per VM per day. Is it configurable somehow on second instacne to also have one VIB file per day for all VMs??  Thanks,

VM restore failed - both from azure to hyper v and hyper v to hyper v

Hey Team, We use strictly hyper v server core hosts to house vms in the environment. I observed a few things?Veeam successfully creates repos both azure and lcoal Veeam successfully added all the hyperv host servers showing all vms under each Error code - 32774 - Performing a Hyper V Backup Type for a vm under any host to a local repo FAILS - i observe a “logon as a service” error then i am directed by veeam support to read - https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/windows-server/virtualization/starting-or-live-migrating-hyper-v-vms-fails Performing a Windows Agent type backup type where i manually added the same vm and others (housed under the hyperv core server) with domain firewall off completes successfully, beautifully even. Performing a backup from the vm under the hyperv host server to azure/object type storage works perfectly Performing a Hyper V VM restore from Azure back to Hyper VM FAILS - logon as a service error / logon failure Performing a hyper V VM restore from l

Moving backups from VCC-B?

Question for the service providers in the room. How do you handle customers who were VCC customers, but are looking to migrate their historic backup data from their VCC-B repo to elsewhere. No option to move between repos, and if we’re talking sufficient quantities of data, no practical way to download to local repo, before moving to new location (object for example).Thoughts?

How To file level backup from virtual system to tape ?

Actually, we are using tape infrastructure and want to take file level backup to tape. we tried to create file to tape job, but no luck. we reflected only Veeam server in source option. why does not show virtual infra in source tab or any other system/ server?  No need backup of Veeam serverHow to take virtual infra file level backup on tape?Please suggest

Backup only one client in Protection Group

Hi, I have a Protection Group with 8 clients all running Veeam Agent.  The Protection Group is part on a schedule that backs everything up once a week.  Is there a way to backup one of the machines in an adhoc manner?  Is that Quick Backup or something else?Thank you!

VBR Proxmox VM-Backup not possible - Guid should contain 32 digits with 4 dashes (xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx)

Hi all, my first entry here :-)I use the Community Edition of VBR for backing up two proxmox-vms. Installation was no problem and worker was configured. If I backup linux-vms there is no problem. But if I try to backup two windows server 2022 vms (image for hpe proliant server) i get the error: Guid should contain 32 digits with 4 dashes (xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx). If i check the guid in windows with power shell the guid seems to be good. I tried serveral things but it is not possible to do a backup.Anybody a solution or the same problem? Daniel

Hi Team,can someone please help to resolve below issue.i started a backup copy job.the backup copy job replicates data from HPE storeonce Azure cloudbank repository to Azure based storeonce VSA, this is first time we configured this.actual data backup traffic path is given below,physical storeonce catalyst -> storeonce cloudbank in Azure -> VSA catalyst store.on-prem proxy servers and storeonce connected via FC cable and Veeam servers is also running as a VM in Azure.we observed this error during copy job of storeonce cloudbank in Azure -> VSA catalyst store.please help to know possible reasons for this error and how we can mitigate this.we also see below errors on this same copy job,[Error] Creating new metadata file Error: Failed to call RPC function 'PluginsHost.StoreOnceFastMoveFile': TryPopById Pipe message queue was canceled.[Error] Error: Failed to call RPC function 'PluginsHost.StoreOnceFastMoveFile': TryPopById Pipe message queue was canceled.

PVE worker creation fails

When creating the pve worker using a static IP, it fails saying i don’t have a valid DNS server, but it’s nowhere to be configured. Also, we use tagged vlans on the vmbrX interfaces, and it’s nowhere to be configured from veeam...

Rocky Linux 8.10 -Hardened Repository

Hey,I have configured Linux Rocky 8.10 with kernel 4.18.0-533.16.1.e18_10.x86_64 to the Hardened Repo. However, I encountered an issue when trying to add this server to Veeam. The problem is with the Installer Service, and I receive either an exit code 1 or a timeout when connecting to Rocky via SSH. I have already turned off all firewalls and allowed all traffic. My question is whether version 8.10 is supported.I can connect to the repository via SSH using the command line from Veeam server. Veeam version 12.2.0.334 Here gave info that Rocky 8  is supported..https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backup/vsphere/hardened_repository_limitations.html?ver=120

Backup CIFS share to Cloud Connect

Currently Cloud Connect doesn’t support direct backup CIFS share to this repository. Currently my workaround is;CIFS share > robo copy local > Veeam agent backup to Cloud Connect Is there an alternative? And will CIFS share backup will be supported in the near future directly to an Cloud Connect repository?
