Active exploitation of Check Point Remote Access VPN vulnerability (CVE-2024-24919)

Hey folks,I want to share this one cause there are already impacted organizations.Cybersecurity experts have identified a critical zero-day vulnerability in Checkpoint’s security software that hackers are actively exploiting. The flaw assigned to the identifier CVE-2024-24919. Summary: A high-severity vulnerability (CVSS: 8.6), identified by CVE-2024-24919, has been discovered in Check Point products. In its bulletin dated 28/05/204, Check Point reports that this vulnerability allows enumeration and extraction of all password hashes from connected users, which could be reused later.Affected Versions:For Check Point Quantum Gateway and CloudGuard Network products, the affected versions are: R81.20, R81.10, R81, and R80.40. different backup size on backup job and vbk file

Hello,We are using self-service portal for our backups and we've discovered different size for each backup job. For example backup job on portal is showing 747,1GB of given backup but vbk file showing 855GB. what is the reason of this differences?thanks,Ladislav.

Veeam and NetApp targets

I am working with a customer to move to Veeam but has to be NetApp targets. I know eseries doesnt dedup etc but maybe FAS storage.If anyone has good experiences please let me know. Need a good level of dedup and maybe writing direct to the storage not via a server. FAS supports iscsi, CIFS etc….thanks

How to identify physical hard disk drives sitting in multiple SAN devices connected to a single ESXi host?

Hi Team,Got two question and appreciate your response.Q1.In my work environment, we got 3 ESXi hosts and each have connected to multiple SAN devices to store data in different locations. I need to do a mapping exercise to identify the physical HDD’s (inside each SAN device) locations to above said individual ESXi host. I can access the ESXi host from a web interface and can view the datastores connected to individual ESXi host. Further, I can retrieve basic information of the HDDs (physical) but not an option to locate in which SAN device they are stored.Hope my question is clear and appreciate your valuable support to obtain the best eway to perform this exercise?Q2.Also would like to know a tool or a mechanism to detect the health status of the physical HDD. The HDDs are in the production environment would like to know an industry best practice to determine the health status please?Than you in advance. Kind regards, Andrew

Hello,In my home lab, the backup repository, running on windows server 2022, using REFS, using V: drive letterVBR is running in a VM on that same server, also on V: drive letter.If that server died, then i have lost all my backups, .vbm|.vib|.vbkSure, I use backup copy jobs but those are stored off-site , but for the sake of this topic, I want to ignore that.If i had a disaster i would have to download the backup files or do an instant restore over slow internet.So I want/need to backup the OS, the c: drive.Can i use that VBR to do it or what do you suggest?Thanks much, David

Restore individual files returns the last version of the file

I’m running Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows 6.0.2.1090 - Free Edition on my Windows 11 PC and I’ve never come across this issue so far:Open Control Panel Run restore Individual Files Select a backup date browse the backup and select a specific file the file is shown in its current state, not in the state at the time when the backup was run. Even non-existing files at backup time, created after the backup was taken, are shown in the backup treeIs it a bug? Am I supposed to set some configuration parameter?I used to navigate the backup tree and select individual files to restore specific files in their state at the time the backup was run.Thank you in advance Vieri

Hi, I would like to know how Office 365 Backup counts license? The community edition is free with 10 license. Now I exceed the community edition by 3 license.In the backup mail I see types of:mailbox (which are users) OneDrive (personal drive) Web (Sharepoint sites) TeamsI assume the license count is a mixtured of the types? Right?

Veeam with Nutanix that has two nodes issue

We have Veeam pushing a couple of Nutanix clusters. Jobs are split between the clusters and Nutanix is replicating between the two clusters so if one goes down…Issue that we’re seeing is when Veeam is backing up a server, snaps are being created to do the backup. Replication between the two Nutanix clusters is seeing the snap and replicating it to the second node. Since the snap doesn’t have a retention set, Nutanix is setting the snaps for 60 day retention. When we’re starting to deal with file servers north of 20tb, this becomes and issue. Is there anyway to force Veeam to set a short retention on snaps or is this something Nutanix should address?Thanks in advance.
