Can Veeam backup and replication Community edition be installed on Client PC? Can we control security for the user so that they will not have access to modify configurations.

Hi @csaha77 ...yes it can... Win7 and 8.1. Check Sys Req:s here:

And for your 2nd question...yes, but permissions aren't too granular.

@coolsport00 has answered the question but I’d just also like to add, whilst you can install Veeam B&R on a client PC, it’s against the Microsoft EULA to use server software on a client OS. So if it’s for private use, you’re pretty safe, but trying to cheap out with a Windows 10 license to protect your organisation? That’s a no no!

Hope this helps

Thank you for all the responses. We have installed Veeeam Backup and Replicaton 10 on Windows server 2016. May be I can give access to Veeam B&R to the user from the server.

You don’t really need to. From the Veeam Server you can give delegated access to a user (either local or domain-based). Then, you can give the Veeam installer ISO to any end user to solely install the Veeam Console on a client PC. They can then use the Veeam Console to do whatever delegated Veeam tasks you gave them, remotely.

Cheers!

On the server itself, with VBR 10 (and lower) the user needs local admin rights to access the VBR console.
With VBR 11 no local rights are needed.

You can install the VBR 10 (and 11) console on another server, then you can assign users to the different roles in the VBR console.

That was the nice thing they did with v11 as we wanted no administrator privileges badly.
