Veeam Certified Architect 2022 - Exam Review and Recommendations

The VMCA2022 exam is officially available since August 2nd 2021. So time to refresh my good old VMCAv1 certification as of 2016 which I did today. In the following I will give you an overview of what to expect and how to prepare.I registered with PearsonVUE through the VMCE certification website. Make sure to read the VMCA 2022 Exam Specification Guide provided there. There were significant changes to the requirements for the VMCA exam. It is not just the new version of the VMCAv1 exam. You will be entitled to sit the exam if you either:attend the Veeam Backup & Replication v11: Architecture and Design training course through a Veeam Authorized Educational Center (VMAEC) attended the “old” Veeam Certified Architect v1 course without sitting the exam within the last 12 months hold the Veeam Certified Architect v1 certification alreadySo there’s no need to be VMCE certified any more which is a major change in comparison to VMCAv1. About Veeam Orchestrator

Hello,I want to try Orchestrator v4 but having trouble about "Recovery Locations". I can able to select "target storage systems" and "target datacenter" but when ı came to "target compute resources" could not see anything to select.Env; vcenter 7 u3 and Netapp ontap 9.7.Ps; ı was able to see hosts from one collect with vm's. Also can not see "compute resources" when ı select "restore" options.Any idea why compute resources not showing ?Thanks in advance,

Linux Backup Repository woes

Hi,I’m a bit confused about the difference of old Veeam forum and new community discussion board.  I just posted in old forum, but as it’s not allowed to post log file content there, I’ll give it a try here too.  I'm setting up our first Linux based backup repository based on Apollo 4510 server (Veeam 10). Now the jobs have different kind of errors. Before I open a case I wanted to know if those problems are known issues with an easy workaround. This all seems to be related to load, as it happens only when multiple backups are running. But there is not much CPU load and no errors in the usual linux logs.#1 at this time backup jobs were writing active fulls with 1,5GB/s over LAN to the server, CPU was 90% idle (52 cores). Veeam SQL Server Restores

We want to restore a SQL Server database within a small window, so that there is minimal downtime for transferring usage from the old database to the new database. With our previous backup software (Backup Exec), we used to restore the full backup and leave the database in recovery mode, then restore the differential backup on top of that, still leaving the database in recovery mode, then restore the transaction logs up to just before the downtime period, still leaving the database in recovery mode, so that, once the downtime commenced, we would only have to restore a couple more transaction log backups to bring the database up-to-date with the source database.We are struggling to find a similar option in Veeam. We have 2 support calls open, one attempting to see if we can use a similar method to the above, and one attempting to see if Instant Recovery is the solution to this.- for the first option, it appears that Veeam cannot append any restores to the original restore - it simply of

[Heads up] Backup function within vCenter Appliance (VCSA) stops working in U3

Another bug in vSphere 7 U3, I just read about. The backup function in the VCSA does not work in U3 any more when DB health check is enabled. Full Restore folder size less then the original

Dears Community memberi did backup using Veeam Backup and Replication community edition my backup server based in Windows 2012 R2 i do backup from SMB and its success the size i over 100 GB now im trying to restore the files to Backup server by using Restore entire share but the restored size is only 1.3 GB only iam trying with more than one backup set

Quick Minio Setup on Laptop for Testing Veeam and Kasten S3

Sometimes you just want to do a quick test which requires S3.You can in seconds flat setup a Minio instance on your laptop for this purpose.Go to Minio’s download page: Run the Powershell command as shown in the instructions: Minio will be downloaded: The instructions on the Minio page say to set a username and password. I did this below but when I brought up Minio it still had the default password.  Create a directory where your test buckets will reside:  Now run the server:  As you can see the root user was still the default minioadmin and password minioadmin but for testing purposes we can leave that, or you can login and make the change. Go to your browser and type your laptop ip address in the url and port 9000 http://your ip:9000  Login and create a bucket by pressing the circled button in the lower right:   Bucket created you are ready to go!!  Keep in mind this is an http S3 setup. For testing VBR capacity tier offload you would need to use https or use a registry key in Veeam

HiIn the 2 days during VEEAMON 2021, there was often the question from new members why to choose Veeam over other competitors…Therefore my own top-15. There will be more reasons, but I think it will cover a lot of the reasons and I don’t think someone has to hesitate anymore ;-) PortabilitySomething I like very hard! All necessary information is built into the backup-file.You are not dependent of your backup-server to restore something. In case of emergency of disaster it’s just sufficient to install VBR Community Edition (free), import your backup-file and restore. You can even extract your backup-file (without VBR) to the .VMDK or .VHDX files.Next to that : the format is interchangeable : you can for example restore a VM (backup taken from vSphere on-premises) to Azure or to HyperV, or restore a backup taken with a Veeam Agent to Amazon EC2 or HyperV, … and so on, the list is very long!  Not always possible with other backup vendors in my experience. Universal licensesIf you use univ

Soo…. VBO hard to install ? Or you never had the chance to play around with Wasabi object storage? Or you have some internships at the office that have a O365-like-assignment? Some students that suddenly asked you to play around with our tool?
