Veeam and Veeam Vanguard/Legends takeover Toronto!

Hey Everyone,A big evening in Toronto IT yesterday and Veeam was there. First @michaelcade and I went to Okta to take part in their Devday23 event (got some nice swag too!), then we had dinner with @Julia F Morgadoand headed to the Pre Kubehuddle meetup where I met some Kubernetes royalty! Of course everyone knew Julia and MIchael so I just used the occasion to shamelessly introduce myself :) . Joking aside I have to note Veeam/Kasten is making its presence felt! I saw no other backup vendors anywhere near these two events. Kubehuddle has  literally a Veeam invasion happening with Julia Morgado, Cassandra Farris, Michael Cade and of course humbly representing the Vanguard/Legend community me :). I believe these efforts are well worth it and are going to pay off. When people need backup in the Kubernetes community there first thought will be Veeam/Kasten!

Cloud & Kubernetes Inventory Project - Kollect

I had the chance to spend some of my evenings on adding some more functionality to my little pet project… or as I have been referring to it, the RVtools for your Cloud and Kubernetes environments and platforms. We already had the ability to grab details on your Kubernetes, AWS and Azure resources, I also did add some Veeam Backup & Replication inventory as well. With this 0.0.3 release we added Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Terraform State File inventory. But probably the biggest feature has been around the user experience. The concept of the tool was to be able to use either the CLI or browser and this remains the same but the UI now can be used with a lot more flexibility. I did a full on demo session of the state of the project and would love to get your feedback. What should I add next? Hi everyone! I would like to share with all of you, this fantastic site with a lot of useful virtual appliances and tools!Maybe most of you will already know it, but I want to expose it and put it on everybody's radar!BITNAMI by vmware! Every time I need to deploy something, specially when its in the Lab or for test / Dev, I look in here,I don't want to re-invent the wheel, if is already created, why don't use it instead of re-installing and dealing with issues and research. When I need to deploy a LAMP, WAMP, or any other application listed in here, they have a lot! I gram a .ova and deploy it on my virtual lab! Now they also cover Kubernetes, cloud providers, docker, and of course vmware!  Do you have any other place where you usually pick your applications / tools?Please share it to build a list of resources for all of us!I will try to catch them all and get them on a cool list! 😃 enjoy!

Beware podiums when speaking :)

Hi Folks, Next in my “Beware” series 😂.. Beware of podiums. Why? Because podiums are generally slanted. So if you have practiced your presentation over and over again at your desk, and your presentation involves CLI work (think Kubernetes Kubeclt or K if you using aliases) then you will be entering a world of fun since you fingers are used to typing on a keyboard that is flat and not slanted. I got used to it but I was nevertheless struck by shame. The typos were flowing and I could just hear the audience whispering, “wow this person can’t type, and he is too old too blame the cell phone thumb typing condition like all of the younger generation do”.  My poor High School Grade 10 typing teacher would be heart broken. She disliked me so much for goofing off in class that she would force me to stay after and finish the tasks which in turn massively improved my typing skills. However, when doing live presentations in front of people, no matter how badly you mess up (be it typing, or lousy

WSL DNS stuff, Bypassing default settings

I wanted to override the default DNS in WSL: add the following section to /ect/wsl.conf (if not present create the file)[network]generateResolvConf = false Then restart wls (in powershell wsl --shutdown) Create a normal resolv.conf file and add your dns settings. I also made the file immutable since someone posted that it would be wiped clean on reboot:sudo chattr +i resolv.conf

Linux Foundation 40% until July 12th

Report: Top Trends in Tech for VARs and MSPs Companies

If your company is a Value-Added Reseller (VAR) and/or a Managed Service Provider (MSP), I recommend reading the just released “Third Annual Direction of Technology Ecosystem Report” from TD Synnex.This survey was conducted with +1000 Channel Partners from April to June 2024.
