In case you missed it, a while back @tsightler presented an amazing webinar Building Secure
Linux Repositories
.

The main topics covered in the presentation are:

  • Securing the host system
  • Isolating Veeam processes
  • Levaraging snapshots
  • Automated deployment

BONUS! Tom also does a side-by-side comparison of Veeam fastcloning on XFS vs ReFS!

While Tom presents top content, I think one of my favorite parts was coverage of the fail2ban tool (at 41:47 timestamp).

Spoiler: XFS vs ReFS comparison (screenshot out of the video/pdf)

Thanks for the link, really great in-depth video!

I just saved it to see later, it will be very interesting :nerd:

@regnor, yes a Linux based Tape Server or even a Linux based VBR Server would be great….

Well a linux based VBR Server would be a dream; and of course with a different database without any limitations ;)

I really like how Veeam is focusing more and more on Linux. Hopefully we’ll get a linux based tape server in the near/far future so there’s no need for phyiscal windows servers anymore.
