Recently as blogged already, I got a DS923+ Nas and here is one of the guides agreed upon. This short article will discuss how to set up iSCSI Target and Storage LUN on Synology DS923+ for VBR.ISCSI stands for Internet Small Computer System Interface. It revolutionizes storage accessibility by seamlessly transporting SCSI commands over TCP/IP networks, granting unparalleled block-level access to storage devices. This innovative technology bridges the gap between traditional storage systems and modern networking infrastructures, empowering businesses with efficient, scalable, and flexible storage solutions.iSCSI allows you to use a Windows repository with ReFS which leverages FastClone. Do you wish to learn more about why the Storage LUN Better is better than a Mapped Network Drive etc. Create iSCSI Targets/LUNYou can create an ISCSI target or LUn on a Synology DS923+. Since this is a pretty new device, we will create both on the fly.For simplicity, I will create a single LUN and presen
"We're researching and doing some prototyping around Proxmox to see what's possible there as far as backup goes," Anton Gostev, Veeam's senior veep for product management posted on January 11.Another Veeam product manager, Fabian Kessler, last week confirmed that effort, writing "Proxmox is something we are doing some early research on." As found on Reddit/The Register. Of course, it all ties back to the R&D Forums, so I guess I should keep a better eye there since I hadn’t seen anything posted on the Community Hub yet. Glad to hear something is being researched. Wondering what other products are being researched. I haven’t looked at it yet, but XCP-NG seems to be another open source project gaining traction. Obviously many folks are very invested in the VMware ecostructure, but I’m curious of anyone here, especially service providers has begun looking into alternatives? Mostly backups have held me off from really setting up any lab environments for testing, but if Veeam is lo
Hi,nach dem eine Linux-Maschine aus dem Backup wiederhergestellt wurde kann Veeam die Maschine nicht mehr sichern. Beim Rescan erhalte ich folgende Fehlermeldung:22.04.2024 06:27:05 Warning Failed to connect to vs-train-debian-01.training.dummy Details: Known agent vs-train-debian-01.dummy.training have the same bios uuid 24ecbd3b-daf8-ee11-ac4a-d097bdb0cd24 but different connection point vs-train-debian-01.training.dummy ich habe die alte Maschine aus allen Protection-Groups entfernet, selbst die alten Backups habe ich gelöscht. Leider verweigert Veeam den Rescan weiterhin. Hat jemand eine Idee, wo sich die alte Maschine eventuell noch versteckt?Grüße Detlev

One of the biggest mysteries of Veeam’s list of features in my opinion is the Backup Copy Job. On the surface, they’re easy to understand – you create a Copy Job, use some supported backup source, and copy this source VM data to a designated target to implement part of the 3-2-1(-1-0) Rule – have multiple copies of your data and/or at least 1 offsite copy of your data. Easy, right? Well, when you look under the hood of the technology behind the retention, scheduling, interval, etc. things start to get murky pretty quick, at least for me. The most difficult to understand about Copy Jobs in my opinion is how the retention algorithm works when using the GFS (grandfather-father-son) archive option. And with the changes brought to Copy Jobs with the release of Veeam v11, I believe things got worse instead of better. As such, I thought it would be beneficial to the Veeam Community for me to go through the Backup Copy process from a deep-dive perspective, and see if I can make a bit more clea
Hello Team, I have recently upgraded Veeam Enterprise Manager to 12.1.1.56, upgrade is successfully however now am unable to open Veeam EA or Veeam self service restore browser. tried clearing cookies, rebooted Veeam EA however issue still persists.
The Active Directory Authentication section of the Kasten K10 documentation for Helm says that “auth.ldap.bindPWSecretName” is used to reference a secret containing the AD bind DN password but does not specify which key in the referenced secret it uses: https://docs.kasten.io/latest/access/authentication.html#active-directory-authenticationSo which key does it use? IMHO the documentation should make this explicit for 2 reasons:So users don’t have to guess which key to use by trial and error So users are confident that the key referenced in the Secret remains stable over K10 releases
Dear Expert!I need your assistance with the Veeam Backup issue. I tried numerous times to resolve this issue, but none of my ideas appear to be effective. Could you please provide any suggestions for resolving this problem?Error Message: Unexpected packet type: [%1]. Unable to retrieve next block transmission command. Number of already processed blocks: [997]. Failed to download disk. read: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host Failed to upload disk. Agent failed to process method {DataTransfer.SyncDisk}.Thank you for help!!
Happy New Year Community!Has anyone who’s upgraded VBR to v12.1… have there been any notable issues reported? I know with the upgrade, which supports upgrade of vSphere to 8U2, there is a CBT bug within vSphere when upgrading VM disks. That isn’t a Veeam issue though...rather a VMware issue. Simple fix for that is simply don’t upgrade vSphere to 8U2. 🙂 Other than that, has there been anything discussed ‘in the wild’ as it were on upgrade issues I have not yet heard about? I’d like to upgrade, but want to make sure there’s no egregious bugs before doing so. Cheers all.
